When people ask me what helped my children succeed in their 11+ journey, they often expect me to mention just one resource. The truth is, it was never just one thing.

Of course, consistent practice was important, but I also leaned on the people and resources around us.

Books gave us extra opportunities to practise and helped reinforce topics that needed a little more attention.

My children’s teachers provided valuable insight into their strengths and areas where they could improve. Their encouragement and feedback helped us focus our efforts.

Other parents became an unexpected source of support. Sharing experiences, exchanging recommendations, and simply knowing we weren’t navigating the journey alone made a huge difference.
Looking back, I realised that preparing for the 11+ really does take a village. Every conversation, recommendation, and piece of advice helped shape our approach.

That’s one of the reasons I founded Highrise Learning. I wanted to create a place where families don’t just access great learning resources—they also feel supported throughout the journey. Because while every child’s path is different, no parent should feel they have to navigate it alone.
