📚 The word for “animal” in Turkish is hayvan.
🇹🇷 The fact that the Turkish word is totally different from its English counterpart might have scared you, but don’t worry! Many animal names are written identically in Turkish as they are in English. For example: hamster, iguana, jaguar, koala, panda, tarantula, and zebra! ☺️🐻🐒🐘

🇹🇷 Like other countries, Turkey is home to a range of farm animals. They are bred for their meat, milk, eggs, skin, and wool. Most of the livestock in Turkey can be found in the Aegean and Marmara regions, as well as in Central and Eastern Anatolia. 🐮🐷

🍬 During the Ramadan Feast it is important to honor the elderly; therefore mostly the younger generation visit the older ones. People greet each other by saying Bayramınız Kutlu Olsun, meaning “May Your Feast Be Blessed”.
One of my personal favorites of the Ramadan Feast is the tradition of children going around in their neighborhood, from door to door and wishing people a happy bayram. As a reward, they receive candies, chocolates, or even a small amount of money. It makes the streets even busier with cheerful gangs of kids running around, counting their revenues. 😊

🌤 In Turkey, the winters are cold and the summers are hot. That might sound like it’s true in a lot of places, but it’s especially true in this country, which, thanks to its size and location, has a range of climates across the landmass.
🌧 If you’re visiting Turkey, then, you’ll want to be prepared for the weather. One of the best ways to do that is to learn some Turkish weather vocab. Being able to read a weather forecast could save you in a moment of need. Having an umbrella on you can mark the difference between a very good and a very bad day. 😊
