Our autumn face-to-face music exam session dates are live! Booking is now available for exams taking place in November and December.

Use our public centre map to find your nearest exam venue, check available session dates and closing dates, and see how to make your entry.

Closing dates vary by centre and are at least four weeks before the exam date, so we recommend booking early to give you the best choice of available sessions.

Singing, acting, and movement; these are the three core skills of musical theatre.

Gen Z report that before entering the workforce, 42% worry about working with unknown people and 38% fear face-to-face small talk.

Drama education gives young people frequent chances to practise these skills, like public speaking and stepping into unfamiliar roles.

Teachers report drama is particularly effective for building communication and social confidence. For musical theatre students, this involves communicating character, emotion and narrative through singing and acting, coordinating movement and vocal harmonies.

Research from our recent white paper, 'Career Ready: Bridging the Skills Gap', shows that students who participated in drama or dance education, beyond compulsory schooling, demonstrate significantly higher workplace confidence and readiness for work.

Congratulations to Heavenly, who was successful in her Music Performance in Bands, Initial exam, and recently nominated in the Personal Development category for Trinity College London’s Hall of Fame.

Heavenly was nominated by family friend, Tolulope, who said "Heavenly has demonstrated remarkable bravery by consistently using her voice and musical talent to bring people together across a wide range of public settings".

"What makes Heavenly’s contribution stand out is not only her talent, but her willingness to share it in spaces where it is most needed. At the Sandwell Council Shape event she helped create a sense of pride and unity, using music to reflect the diversity of our borough".

Develop your students’ speaking skills and support verbal communication they’ll need for work and further study with Trinity College London’s Communication Skills Schemes of Work.

The free-to-access teaching resources include practical tools and exercises to boost oracy, presentation skills, confident discussion and critical thinking.

The Schemes of Work map directly onto Trinity’s Communication Skills qualifications and can be used to help prepare candidates for exams, with distinct pathways of structured sessions available for Grades 1-3 and 6-8.

"I would not have been able to do that without Trinity."

Whilst on her acting journey, Amy gained Trinity College London Speech and Drama qualifications and secured her first job as a trainee play worker. She credits the confidence she gained while working with Trinity as a key factor in helping her secure the role.

Looking forward, Amy has signed up to writing workshops, as she one day hopes to get into writing, directing or producing her own shows.

On Wednesday 23 September at 4pm, we will be running a webinar which explores how to choose performance texts that are appropriate, effective, and well-suited to the requirements of your drama exam.

Focusing on our Acting, Acting for Screen, Speech & Drama and Musical Theatre specifications, we will consider key factors for selecting the right programme, including syllabus requirements, age-appropriate material, and creating contrast.

The session will also offer guidance on selecting pieces that allow performers to demonstrate a range of skills while avoiding common pitfalls in text selection.
