🌱 Dalmain on the BBC! 📺

What a moment for Dalmain Primary School to be featured on BBC Morning Live yesterday, talking about something that has been quietly transforming our school for the past seven years: our extensive retrofit and sustainability work. 💚

A lot of this work happens behind the scenes — but its impact is very much felt by our children.

Over the last seven years, we’ve invested in:

🌍 An air source heat pump - no gas boilers here making us one of under 1% of schools nationally to be gas boilers free
🌬️ An MVHR (Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery) system, bringing fresh, filtered air into our classrooms while recovering heat
☀️ Solar panels
🏫 Five new canopies, with specialist polycarbonate film designed to reflect heat and help keep our outdoor spaces and building cooler
🧱 Extensive insulation works
🏠 An entirely new roof …. to name but a few of our projects….

These aren’t always the things you see when you walk through the school gates, but they make a huge difference to our children’s learning and wellbeing.

They have helped us create a school that can stay open, keep classrooms comfortable and allow our children to continue learning — even when the weather outside is challenging. 🌡️📚

And we’re not stopping there…

✨ What a day! ✨

Last night was full of laughter, fun and togetherness, and today has been just as packed!

🥞 After a delicious breakfast of cereal and homemade pancakes, the children got stuck into this morning’s team-building activities. They were VERY excited!

But beyond the activities, there has been something really special about watching our children this week.

It has been quite emotional seeing them become more independent, confident and resilient — communicating, collaborating, solving problems and supporting each other along the way.

They’ve embraced every challenge, looked after one another and thrown themselves into everything with such enthusiasm.

The centre staff have been so impressed with them, and we couldn’t be prouder. ❤️

They are growing, thriving and discovering just how much they can do for themselves.

What a week. What a team. Proud to be Dalmain. 🌟

✨ is lighting up writing at Dalmain! ✨

📚✏️ With a clear structure, a strong focus on key skills, purposeful modelling and thoughtful assessment, our children are becoming confident, ambitious and imaginative writers. 📕 ✏️

And the writing we are seeing? Wow. 🤩

Children are making bold vocabulary choices, developing their ideas and, most importantly, showing a really strong understanding of the skills they are learning — while still letting their imaginations fly. 🚀

What we love most is seeing the confidence behind the writing. Children know what they are trying to achieve, they understand the tools they have to do it, and they are beginning to see themselves as writers.

That balance is so important: strong teaching, clear skills and plenty of space for creativity.

We’re only at the beginning of our Luminary Literacy journey, but already we can see the difference it is making. And we are so excited to see how this develops across our school.

Proud of our flourishing writers. Proud of our teachers. Proud to be Dalmain.

🍕 DAY TWO at residential! 🌳✨

Another brilliant day of making great choices, trying new things and having the BEST time together! 💫

Today’s favourites? 🚲 Cycling and bread making — with plenty of teamwork, laughter and new skills along the way.

And to finish the day… pizza making with the chef! 👨‍🍳🍕 The children have been busy creating their own pizzas, ready for a well-earned dinner after another action-packed day.

So much fun. So many new experiences. So many proud moments. ❤️

🌟 RESIDENTIAL DAY ONE! 🌟

What an incredible first day! 🤩 After a day packed with fun, laughter and new experiences, the children enjoyed some well-deserved free time — and, of course, they weren’t ready for the fun to stop! 🎭🎤

They put together their very own show, complete with plenty of creativity, laughter and entertainment! 😂👏

Now the children are back in their rooms, getting cosy and settling in for the night… although we’re sure there’s still plenty of excitement being shared! 💤🛏️✨

One day down, and what an adventure it’s been! Bring on Day Two! 🚀❤️

🍎🥖 Nourishment at its BEST! 🥗✨

What a week of food at Dalmain! Our newly upgraded dining room has had a glow-up too — beautiful new tables, gorgeous décor, a fresh salad bar… and those gingham tablecloths! 💚

But the real star? THE FOOD. 👏

Fresh, delicious, homemade and honestly far better than we ever imagined! From scrumptious homemade bread to delicious fruit-infused water and colourful, nourishing meals, our tummies are very happy indeed. 😋

And we know that full tummies = happy minds = brilliant learning! 🧠✨

A huge thank you to Bloom Community Kitchen and our wonderful kitchen team for bringing such care, creativity and nourishment to our children every single day.

Good food. Happy children. Nourished minds. 🌱💚

Our brand-new Two-Year-Old Nursery has been full of joy, curiosity and discovery since opening in September! 💛

And already… WOW! The progress has been astronomical. 🚀

Little steps, big smiles, new friendships, busy hands and growing independence — our youngest Dalmainiacs are settling, exploring and flourishing every day. ✨

A huge shout-out to our brilliant Early Years team, who nurture, encourage and celebrate every little milestone. 🥰

Small people. BIG progress. The best beginnings. 🌈
