Today, Sunday 21 December is the winter solstice: the longest night π
This day invites us to slow down, turn inward and rest deeply.
Here are 9 things you can do to honour this day.
1. A slow, grounding flow
2. Hold long, supported postures to invite stillness (with layers)
3. Take time for deep belly breathing
4. Set an intention for the next season
5. Extend and enjoy your savasana
6. Light a candle to symbolise returning light
7. Journal, with a focus on what you can release
8. Take a moment to enjoy and sip a warm tea
9. Close your practice and the day with gratitude for rest and renewal

In November, I completed Yin Yoga teacher training through π§π»ββοΈ
It was a wonderful experience, with an incredible group of yoga teachers. I can't wait to teach Yin in 2026.
A huge thank you to .shapiro who taught the course. I learned so much, and have so much to continue to learn within Yin.

What is yoga? π§ββοΈ
It's a lifestyle and a philosophy.
Cleaning the mirror - is a metaphor for purifying the mind and body. It's achieved through meditation, asana practice (yoga poses), pranayama (breathing exercises) and mantras.
Spreading the light - is a metaphor for reflecting what you practice outwards, a clear mind is able to reflect the soul and allows balance and harmony to take place to lead us to awakening.

Happy Sunday folks β
May you end your weekend with things that bring joy. For me that tends to be a walk or yoga followed by a coffee and sometimes a sweet treat (either out, or at home)

Almost 1 year ago I visited India for the first time, to celebrate a friend's wedding, followed by travelling around Rajasthan.
Looking back through the pictures I found this one...
Me watching with fascination on the incredible artwork of henna unfolding on my hand. It was completed incredibly fast and beautifully. I'm still in awe today πͺ·
The trip was a full sensory experience and really made me live in the moment, wanting to soak everything in β¨

A delightful weekend (one of two!) of Yin Yoga Teacher training.
Leading all about the origins, meridians, fascia, traditional Chinese medicine and connecting with the seasons.
Can't wait for the second weekend and to bring some yin into classes ππ»

Week 1/26 Brighton Marathon training β
Starting as we hope to go on...
Legs are heavy from all the strength training in between and I donated blood on Tuesday which sapped my energy levels a bit.
A bit of yoga tomorrow will be a welcome active recovery π§ββοΈ
Bring on week two! πββοΈ
