🐒 Include contingency and risk

We all want to predict the future, right? Well here's our thoughts on how you can do just that.

We can't tell you whether we'll be exclusively using hoverboards to get around, holidaying on Mars or whether the franchise wars will have left us all eating nothing but Pizza Hut (bonus points for this movie reference!), but using these tips will tell you how your project is performing and how it is likely to perform in future.

The danger, once you get into project delivery, is that you (and the rest of the team) will naturally tend to focus on the here and now.

Take 20 minutes every so often (say, once a fortnight) to look at all the items further down your plan - even the ones way out in the future.

Are they still relevant?

Might they have changed due to something that is happening today?

Are they are risk of failure in a reasonably foreseeable way that would be worth flagging or planning for now?

Look up and look ahead once every so often.
