Our secondary science trainees spent a valuable day at ZSL London Zoo last week.
The visit encouraged trainees to think about science teaching beyond the classroom, exploring how outdoor learning and educational visits can help pupils connect scientific ideas to the wider world.
Joanna Igoe, Science Subject Lead, shared:
“The session gave trainees a chance to think differently about how science can be taught outside the classroom.”

Subject-specific training in London’s Knowledge Quarter📍
This week, our Secondary Initial Teacher Training cohorts explored spaces connected directly to their subjects and the wider contexts in which they are taught.
English trainees joined a Bloomsbury literary tour, Maths explored the Winton Gallery at the Science Museum, Science trainees spent the day at ZSL London Zoo and PE visited Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Training days also included input from museum educators and visiting experts, helping trainees connect subject knowledge with professional practice.
