𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰'𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬!

Following the graphic design workshop last term, Parkview students artwork featured in the A-Z glossary titled “Re-wired”. The book contains interviews from charities and other organisations exploring neurodiversity .

The workshop facilitators would like to thank staff and the students for collaborating with them to create typeface artwork for the book which was displayed in the Camberwell school of Art final year degree show.

𝐊𝐒𝟒 𝐒𝐄𝐍 𝐄𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭!

Our amazing KS4 SEN students had a meaningful and inspiring trip to the Greenwich Islamic Centre today!

They explored the mosque, learned about Islamic beliefs and practices, and asked thoughtful questions that sparked great discussions.

This visit helped our students grow in understanding, respect, and curiosity about different cultures and faiths — key values we’re proud to celebrate every day!

Parkview Academy have been awarded an Eco-Schools Green Flag with distinction

Parkview Academy have worked hard to renew their eco school green flag accreditation, being awarded distinction for the second year running. Work included developing our allotment plot, planting in the local area and new battery recycling initiatives

GCSE reward trip
To celebrate students completing their GCSE exams, students were treated to a reward trip to an escape room where they had to rescue 'Steve' from another portal. Students succeeded with 3 minutes to spare.

𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐩𝐡𝐢𝐜 𝐃𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬!

Graphic Design facilitators Lily MacKinnon and Gemma Tucker from Camberwell College of Arts worked with students from Parkview Academy on the first day back of term.

Students put their own creativity drawing letters of the alphabet which will later be transformed into a collective typeface!

𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟏𝟑𝟎 𝐘𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧!

This year marks an incredible milestone – Welling Railway Station has been serving our community for 130 years! To celebrate this historic event, our amazing KS4 students got creative and baked a selection of delicious cakes, which were shared at the community celebration.

A huge thank you to all the students for their hard work and for bringing a sweet touch to the day! You’ve truly made this anniversary extra special.

𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐖𝐞𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐠𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭!

We are excited to share with you that this term, our school is focusing on the theme of community engagement. As a school we will be organising a range of hands-on activities that will help our students to develop valuable life skills, whilst building a sense of pride in their local area and teaching them the importance of helping others as they give back to the school’s local community.

To begin this initiative, students in KS3 ventured out into our local area to help with a community clean up. We have partnered with Discover Welling, a local community group that works to enhance and celebrate the town of Welling.

The students have been allocated a small flower bed situated by the old war cannon which dates back to the Crimean war in the 1800s. Our students did a great job of clearing the area of litter such as sweet wrappers and bottles, weeding the beds, and cleaning and tidying the seating area.

The local residents were very impressed to see young students volunteering and thanked them for their work which was very rewarding. We are looking forward to collaborating with Discover Welling and will keep you all updated as the weeks progress.

𝐒𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐚𝐭 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰

Students started the week with a science themed afternoon tea including a fossil biscuit hunt, atom pizzas, petri jellies and pipette cupcakes.

Students visited the royal observatory to see how technology has changed in astronomy and time keeping before visiting the helios exhibition at the painted hall; and eagle heights to see the variations in different animals.

𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐤𝐯𝐢𝐞𝐰 𝐀𝐜𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐦𝐲 𝐂𝐞𝐥𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐬 𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝 𝐁𝐨𝐨𝐤 𝐃𝐚𝐲 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟓

Parkview Academy celebrated World Book Day today and took part in some themed activities. Students and staff dressed up as their favourite book characters and have cast their votes for the highly contested ‘best dressed’. Students have taken part in some additional literacy activities this week. KS2 and KS3 classes explored the morals behind some ‘Aesop's Fables’ stories. Our older students in KS4 and 5 read storybooks to our younger students. All classes took part in a World Book Day Quiz where they had to decipher the books being described in one sentence.

The winners of our World Book Day Quiz and dress-up competition will be announced in tomorrow’s assembly. Well done to all students for taking part. We hope to see you all dressed up again next year!

𝐀𝐓𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝐀𝐋𝐋: 𝐏𝐀𝐑𝐊𝐕𝐈𝐄𝐖 𝐀𝐂𝐀𝐃𝐄𝐌𝐘 𝐇𝐀𝐒 𝐀 𝐂𝐄𝐋𝐄𝐁𝐑𝐈𝐓𝐘 𝐈𝐍 𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐈𝐑 𝐌𝐈𝐃𝐒𝐓!

Parkview Academy is incredibly proud to announce that one of our KS5 students, Billy, has an original poem published in the book, ‘The Beautiful Truth- Creative Voices’. Staff and students are welcomed to read Billy’s poem, ‘A Beautiful Lie Where Love Can Arise’. A copy of the book is available in the school library.

Billy was published in this book as a prize for being shortlisted for a poetry competition with the literacy fund, ‘Young Writers’. We were fortunate enough for Billy to have signed our school copies of the book, something that he should probably get used to! Congratulations Billy, this is a fantastic achievement!

𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐒𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐁𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐳𝐞 𝐀𝐰𝐚𝐫𝐝!
