Helping non-English speaking professionals to go from helpless speakers to effective communicators. Hi Everyone! A little bit about myself and "ProsperoUs".
I moved to the UK 19 years ago with some level of English - let's say I was able to communicate well informally. I worked at various jobs: cleaning, bartending, nannying....you name it! At some point, I wanted more, and I completed a Business Law Degree at St Mary's University, London. Since then, I've been working in corporate jobs (Financial Services). Hello Everyone! I hope you are all well!
We are not approaching week three of the Confident English Communicator Course. Time flies when you are having fun🎉!
So far, we've covered:
👉Importance of being fluent in English and what fluency is. We established a system to build fluency in the next eight weeks of the course.
👉Professional Introductions in different scenarios.
👉Roles and responsibilities where students need to talk about their jobs in detail.
👉Company Overview.
👉Discussing ideas for perks.
👉Talking about the products.
👉Company mission statement, values and culture where students had to create an imaginary company and provide (1) a company overview, (2) discuss values and purpose (3) create a mission statement. Fun times🥳!
👉In the next few days, we will focus on Small Talk at work during breaks or social events.
👉We will learn conversation starters in English and how to keep the conversation going even if you have nothing to say about the topic.
👉How to manage awkward silences in English.
👉And all about the meetings, from sending the initial invite to taking minutes, brainstorming and sending a follow-up email.
👉While going over different topics, we focus on fluency and learn the use of stress, intonation, prepositions and tenses. All while having fun!

Today I wanted to share my journey with you.
I moved to England, London, in 2002. Like many other foreigners, I worked hard. I worked in coffee shops, restaurants, and bars; in fact, I started as a cleaner.
When I arrived in England, I spoke basic English, so applying for another type of job seemed impossible.
At present, I am a fluent English speaker and teach others how to speak English.
For the past few years, I've been working for large international corporations, and I am a successful leader! 🙋♀️
So before you say it is impossible to speak fluent English....think twice! I've done it. You can do it too!
You are capable of learning another language. Not one, but many! So keep going. You've got this! 🥰
