-Fire and Cooking

-Introduction to Forest School (Level 1)

The Hive Forest School has returned in 2022 and we are super excited to start welcoming you back in the new year. If your interested in getting involved with Forest School we still have a couple of places left in April, however you will need to be quick as they are selling fast!

We're hiring a Lead Facilitator for one of our Science and Tech missions!

You will...
- work with young people aged 11 - 13 to create their very own start ups!
- guide them through solving problems, brainstorming, prototyping and designing a business strategy

You'll need...
- a good understanding of business and entrepreneurship.
- experience working with children or young people in a creative environment, preferably with those aged 8 - 13.
- an interest in the prospect of working in nature and the outdoors.
- an energetic and playful approach with an instinctive understanding of what motivates children.
- proven ability to work as part of a team.
- experience of using tablet technology (preferably with children).
- a DBS certificate issued within the past 2 years.
- excellent organisational skills.
- punctual, reliable and committed.

This mission runs from Monday 12th - Friday 16th July, at Eltham College (SE9 4RW). You must be available for the full week to be considered for this role. Visit our website to read the full job description and submit an application!

We're hiring for several exciting roles at The Hive! Next up... we're looking for a facilitator for our Base Camp mission.

You will...
- work with children aged 8 - 11 on an exciting quest to the summit of Mount Everest!
- teach children to set up camp, build a radio communication system, program their own LED torch, and get to grips with electronics to construct their own transport rover.
- explore the culture of the Tibetan people.

You'll need...
A good understanding of basic circuitry and design.
Comfortable with camping skills such as shelter building and basic fire lighting.
- experience working with children or young people in a creative environment, preferably with those aged 8 - 13.
- an interest in the prospect of working in nature and the outdoors.
- an energetic and playful approach with an instinctive understanding of what motivates children.
- proven ability to work as part of a team.
- experience of using tablet technology (preferably with children).
- a DBS certificate issued within the past 2 years.

This mission runs from Monday 19th - Friday 23rd July at Eltham College (SE9 4RW). You must be available for the full week to be considered for this role.

We're hiring! Could you be our next Camp Director in Blackheath?

You will...
- lead and support a team of Mission Facilitators at one of our outdoor holiday camps for children aged 5 – 13 years.
- work directly with both facilitators and young people.

You'll need...
- strong background in the management of an Outdoor Education setting, or equivalent.
- strong communication skills to effectively liaise between facilitators, on site staff and parents.
- passion for working outdoors in all weathers, and be able to support and encourage your team in this setting.
- a keen eye for detail, the ability to remain calm during potentially stressful situations, the ability to act with initiative, comfortable making quick decisions, and delegating where necessary.
- enhanced DBS check (issued within 2 years) or be registered to the DBS update service.
- up to date Paediatric First Aid training, as the Camp Director is responsible for administering all first aid whilst at camp.

We are specifically looking for a Camp Director to join us for the following dates at Eltham College, SE9 4RW:
- Monday 12th – Friday 16th July 2021
- Monday 19th – Friday 23rd July 2021
- A half day set up time w/c 7th July 2021

Being a forest school leader means knowing when to let children take risks for themselves, and when to offer support.

When we teach kids to understand and manage risks on their own, we're giving them the skills they need to thrive. Result: confident, happy, successful children!
