‘Turkey Is NOT Human(e)’ Campaign
London, UK
Most turkeys raised for Christmas in the UK spend their whole lives packed into filthy sheds, unable to explore, play, or form the bonds they naturally would. Their bodies are bred to grow so fast that their legs often collapse under them, and the ammonia in the sheds burns their eyes and skin. By just a few weeks old, they are already unfathomably suffering. When slaughter begins, workers grab them by their legs, shove them into crates, and send them to be gassed, electrocuted, or have their throats slit while still conscious.
Turkeys are sentient beings with the inherent right to live free from harm. Yet in the UK alone, 9 million turkeys were killed last year, after living short, miserable lives inside these sheds. Tradition does not excuse what happens to them.
SPECIESISM.WTF was founded in 2023 by Interdisciplinary Artist and Animal Rights Activist Stephanie Lane

LONDON, UK, 18th October 2025
“For me, every move and breath is art and with that comes responsibility. My existence, my purpose, is to rupture, not entertain,” says Stephanie Lane , Artist and Founder of SPECIESISM.WTF. “To expose the hidden economy of suffering our culture normalises, and even glamorises. THE MILKING HERD confronts the brutality of the dairy industry, dismantling the lie of disposability. Legacy, for me, is not reputation, it is leaving a fracture in our species’ delusion of supremacy.”
We would love to hear what passersby , , and thought of the performance 🙏🏼

‘THE MILKING HERD’
A Powerful Moving Art Installation Confronting the Dairy Industry During Frieze Week 2025
LONDON, UK, 18th October 2025
During Frieze Week 2025, London’s streets became the stage for THE MILKING HERD, an unflinching work by Interdisciplinary Artist Stephanie Lane , founder of SPECIESISM.WTF. This was public, participatory performance to challenge human supremacy and animal exploitation, specifically confronting the dairy industry.
Taking the form of an embodied art procession, THE MILKING HERD sees 45 women embodying “milked commodities”, moving through the city as living sculptures. The large-scale moving installation traced a route across London, symbolising the forced journeys of dairy cows and confronting the speciesist lens that enables their suffering.

An “embodied art procession” in London will take the form of THE MILKING HERD, a large-scale moving installation by artist Stephanie Lane , featuring performers embodying women as milked commodities. The work traces a route across the city with hundreds of participants, symbolizing the forced journeys of dairy cows and confronting the speciesist lens that enables their exploitation.
This public performance art uses choreography, costume, and sound to expose the hidden violence of the dairy industry. By mirroring the commodification of female bodies—both human and nonhuman—the piece highlights the urgent ethical consequences of speciesism, prompting cultural engagement and a renewed call for liberation and connection.
was a finalist for the Women In Art Emerging Artist Prize 2024.

SPECIESISM;
The assumption of human superiority, leading to the exploitation of non-human animals.
23/08/2025
This is a work of performance art.
It confronts what most humans willingly pay for: the body of a sentient being placed at the center of a dinner table. Their life has been stolen, after enduring enslavement, torment, and suffering, only to be killed long before their time. Now their remains lie before us, casually seasoned with salt and pepper, while people gather to consume the flesh of another.
This is the reality faced by millions of chickens every year. And even here, this portrayal is softened. G rated. The gruesome truth is concealed behind walls and polished marketing, kept hidden from public view.
There is no right way to carry out the wrong act. Art exposes what society chooses to normalise; the harm and exploitation inflicted on our fellow animals through speciesist thinking and discrimination.
If it is not ok for humans, it is not ok for chickens.
END SPECIESISM.

In the stark geometry of Polish gallery , bodies lie tangled in netting; breathing, human, and yet positioned as the catch. A lone figure holds the truth aloft:
‘FISHING IS NOT HUMAN(E)’
This inaugural performance art in Warsaw confronts the violence we normalise at sea, collapsing the false boundary between human and nonhuman suffering, and forcing the viewer to reckon with the shared vulnerability beneath the net.
Thank you to the brilliant Poland lead for making this launch possible and seamless, to her team, and to the passersby who stopped, looked, and felt the weight of what we are communicating through the power of art.

10,000 people are now part of this community. That number holds weight because it represents more than just followers—it’s 10,000 hearts that believe art can move the world to see our fellow animals compassionately, so that they can finally have the rights they deserve. Each one of you chose to be here, to witness and share the work that confronts what so many choose to ignore. That matters.
Thank you for showing up, for caring, for carrying these messages to millions; further than I ever could alone. This project has always been about using art to dismantle the walls that separate us from other beings and knowing there are 10,000 of you standing behind that vision gives me hope. Thank you for choosing to create a kinder world, a world free from harm and exploitation towards our fellow animals. This is only the beginning.
END SPECIESISM.
Huge love and appreciation to several activists and individuals who have dedicated endless amounts of their efforts and time to grow our family 🤍🙏🏼 and so many more. You know who you are xx
