Play2Learn is growing ~ yay! We are looking to recruit passionate educators in Surrey & SW London for tuition sessions for the Early Years and KS1.

Since lockdown, there has been a growing demand on 1:1 support outside of school. We are looking for educators who want to be part of a young childโ€™s learning journey and their unique growth path. We recognise that children learn differently and each need a tailored session to suit their developmental stage. ๐Ÿƒ

Direct message us with your email address & CV and we will get in touch with more information & availability in your area!

*Sessions will begin in the New Year! ๐Ÿ“š

Fine motor development? โœ๏ธ

For some, this concept may appear difficult to understand. What is it? Where do you begin? How do you practice it? Are my childโ€™s bones developed enough to begin writing?

Simply put, when the hands are fully developed, it is a muscle which needs to be exercised daily through various activities and techniques to build strong fingers for writing, cutting and creating! ๐ŸŽจ *Be aware of the bone development of younger children and the importance to not force development at a young age, allow the bones to develop first.

~ Play-dough is a simple but effective tool. Encourage pulling, pinching and rolling techniques. Perhaps you could even make your own over a weekend!

~ Tweezers: Can your little one help you count out how many coffee beans she/he can spot? Use the tweezers to pick them up! Ready steady โ€ฆ go!

~ Paper tearing games: Can you tear and roll paper into tight balls? How many can you make to fill a jar?

~ Lacing & weaving: Lace and weave string through holes. This takes careful concentration and hand - eye coordination.

~ Design and construct: Use mini lego to build anything you wish! This a fun way to practice fine motor development without your little one even realising.

How can we encourage play it at home? ๐Ÿƒ ~ Play is vital in equipping your little one with the skills they need to succeed inside and outside of the classroom. Whilst educators acknowledge the importance of the academic progress made at school, it is also equally important that we facilitate social play, resilience and independence, so your child can succeed in a demanding society beyond the school gates. Get out this weekend & play! ~ Play2Learn ๐Ÿƒ

"Art has the role in education of helping children become like themselves instead of more like everyone else" - Sydney Gurewitz Clemens ๐ŸŽจ

Art may seem like fun and games โ€” and it is! Your little one is learning a lot through exploring the arts and doing art activities. Your children will gain useful life skills through art, so encourage them to get creative, and you will soon see that they are picking up on the following skills:

- Communication skills
- Problem - solving skills
- Fine motor development
- Social & emotional skills

Useful tip: Creative a special space in your classroom/home with paints, scrap paper, colouring pencils and recycled materials for them to independently explore at any time of the day. Let them be the conductor of their creativity! ๐ŸŒฟ

PSED is one of the three prime areas within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and involves the following three Early Learning Goals -

๐ŸŒฑ Self-Regulation: Show an understanding of their own feelings and those of others, and begin to regulate their behaviour accordingly.

๐ŸŒฑManaging Self: Be confident to try new activities and show independence, resilience and perseverance in the face of challenge.

๐ŸŒฑBuilding Relationships: Work and play cooperatively and take turns with others; Form positive attachments to adults and friendships with peers; Show sensitivity to their own and to others' needs.

The best way to support your little one in personal, social and emotional development is through the power of play!
