Changing to more healthy footwear is important, but it's not the silver bullet - it takes time for our lifelong conventionally-shod feet (and everything else upstream) to adjust. Here are 5 tips to get you started:
1. PATIENCE! I understand the shiny-new-shoes excitement. As a kid, when I got new kicks I wanted to wear them to bed for the first week. Resist the urge to go all-in, and gradually build up your time in them.
2. In fact, one way to help is to actually kick off the very shoes you're trying to transition to. Walking barefoot is a simple and effective way to restore mobility and strength in your feet. Start on flat surfaces, then progress to different textures.
3. Roll your feet on a massage ball every day, to mobilise the joints and get things flowing.
4. Wake your feet up with some active exercises, spreading and moving the toes independently. AKA 'Toe-ga' (yoga for the toes, geddit?!)
5. Check in with your calf muscles. Likely they're feeling pretty tight! Try a calf stretch on a half-dome, or gently rolling them out on a massage roller.

Inspiration, goals, and planning are great. But action is where the magic happens π«
A popular approach with creating good habits is to start with something so small it seems silly, and is super easy to achieve. Like flossing one tooth, or exercising for just 5 minutes. The hard part is starting, then you can build from there.
Imagine your aunt or best friend showed an interest in fixing their feet and didn't know where to start.
What ONE teensy action would you suggest?
Here are my top 3:
π£ Kick off your shoes & socks when you get home from work, and walk barefoot around the house for 5 minutes
βͺ Roll the sole of your foot on a massage ball while you clean your teeth
π In the time it takes you to drink your morning coffee, use either your fingers or a pair of spreaders to splay your toes

There's snow forecast for tomorrow, and we're finally starting to feel a teensy bit festive.
