Year 8 Ceramic Totems: Inspired by Nature & Yayoi Kusama
Come and discover an exciting collection of ceramic sculptures created by the talented Year 8 students from Norbury High School for Girls, inspired by the natural world and the imaginative work of Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama.

Over the course of the project, every Year 8 student designed and created their own individual ceramic sculpture, experimenting with a wide range of techniques. When brought together, these individual pieces form nine striking class totems, each one a unique collaborative artwork celebrating the beauty of nature.

Inspired by Kusama’s fascination with organic forms, repetition and the natural world, students also explored the way she has exhibited her work within botanical gardens and outdoor environments. Our ceramic totems continue this idea, bringing the students’ vibrant sculptures into the landscape of The Rookery on Streatham Common.

The Year 8 students have worked incredibly hard to develop their ideas and craftsmanship, and we are delighted to share their fantastic finished sculptures with the local community.

Come and see the totems at The Rookery, Streatham Common, on Saturday 19 September and experience the creativity of Year 8 surrounded by nature!

Did you notice? We have a new badge!

We're phasing out the old one gradually so there's no need for parents and carers - including those of students starting in Sept 2026 - to purchase new uniform until their children have outgrown their current schoolwear.

Our supplier still has stock featuring the old school badge which parents/carers – including those of year 7 students beginning in September 2026 – should continue to purchase until the new stock replaces it. The expectation is that our old and new badges will co-exist until the transition is fully complete.

In the meantime, parents/carers can expect to see our new badge/logo appearing with increasing frequency across all our communications in the coming weeks.

Summerfest returns to Norbury High

Well done to year 8 student Hadeeqa Islam whose winning design for the 2026 Playing Shakespeare with Deutsch Bank production of Romeo and Juliet was selected to form part of the set at The Globe and is now expected to be viewed by over 30,000 theatregoers.
