🌿 A Flourish Tip!

Before children can become confident at calculating, they first need to become confident with numbers.

Try spotting numbers during everyday life this week:

🚗 House numbers

🚌 Bus numbers

🛒 Prices in the supermarket

🍎 Counting fruit into the bowl

These little moments help build number sense naturally and without pressure.

Every small conversation about numbers matters. 🌿

Checkout Flourish SEN for further tips and details of forthcoming workshops.

🌿 Sunday Thoughts with Jacqui 🌿

As another week begins, I hope this little reminder brings you a moment of calm.

Your child is so much more than a diagnosis.

And if you're reading this today, remember...

You don't have to be a perfect parent.

You simply need to keep believing in your child.

Wishing every SEN family a gentle Sunday and a hopeful week ahead. 💙

P.S. I'm really looking forward to welcoming everyone who has booked onto tomorrow evening's FREE dyscalculia parent webinar.

The biggest MYTH about dyscalculia....more maths practice.....
We need to understand how children with dyscalculia learn. More worksheets or repeating the same methods often leaves children feeling frustrated and lacking confidence.

When we understand how they learn, we can support them in ways that build confidence, understanding and real progress.
I'll be sharing more about this in my FREE webinar on Monday evening - I'd love to see you there!

If you're a parent carrying worries about your child's future today, this is your reminder...

A diagnosis doesn't tell us what a child will become -it helps us understand how they learn.

As both a Specialist Teacher and an SEN parent, I've seen children achieve wonderful things when they receive the right understanding, support and encouragement.

Please don't lose hope.

"Will my child be okay?"

It's one of the questions I hear most often from parents of children with dyslexia and dyscalculia, as a specialist teacher and parent of a young adult with dyscalculia.

The good news is that a diagnosis doesn't define a child's future.

If you'd like some reassurance, practical guidance and hope, I'd love you to join my FREE online parent webinar:

"My child has dyscalculia - what does this mean for their future?"

on Monday 6th July at 8:30pm UK time (evening)

When was the last time you had an hour….just for you?

As a specialist teacher, former SENCO and SEN parent myself, I've spent many years supporting children and families with additional needs.
One thing I've learnt is that parents often spend so much time supporting everyone else that their own wellbeing comes last.

That's why I created Creative Calm.

Creative Calm offers gentle workshops for SEN parents and carers, using nature-inspired sensory and creative activities to help people pause, breathe and reconnect with a sense of calm alongside others who understand the realities of SEN family life.

🌿 No artistic experience needed
🌿 No pressure to share
🌿 Just a calm, welcoming space to breathe, create and relax

My next Mill Hill workshop takes place on:

📅 Tuesday 17th June
📍 Mill Hill Therapy Hub
☕ Includes refreshments

If this sounds like something you might benefit from, I'd love to welcome you.

Words from my SEN parents....
"Develops confidence".

Confidence is often the first thing to disappear when a child is struggling....

Helping children recognise their strengths can be the beginning of real progress.

Hi - I wanted to share a few moments from this week’s first Creative Calm studio workshop in Mill Hill, NW London. 🌿

I'm Jacqui and am a specialist teacher, former SENCO and parent myself. I know how much many SEN parents carry every single day — often without enough space to pause and breathe themselves.

The Creative Calm was established as a gentle, supportive space for parents and carers of children with additional needs to reconnect with a sense of calm through nature-inspired creative and sensory activities.

This month’s session focused on pebbles and shells, quiet reflection and simply slowing down for a while alongside others who understand.

Our next Mill Hill workshop at Mill Hill Therapy Hub will take place on:

📅 June 17th at 9:30am

More details will be shared soon, but please comment below with the word "calm" if you wish to have further details now🌿

Thank you - Jacqui🌿
