🍽️✨ A huge thank you to GCDA for joining us again at Greenacres for the first session of our four-week adult and child cookery course!

It was really interesting to learn about the different food groups and why they are so important for our health and wellbeing. Today, we made delicious potato and fish cakes, a fresh salad, and a healthy, easy-to-make cheesecake. πŸ₯”πŸŸπŸ₯—πŸ°

We’ll be taking a break next week for our Art Exhibition, but we’re looking forward to welcoming Tara back on the 24th June for week two.

The children (and adults!) did an amazing job today, showing great enthusiasm and teamwork throughout the session. A big well done to everyone involved! πŸ‘πŸ˜Š

🐝 What a buzz-tastic day! 🐝

We were delighted to welcome School Food Matters Honey Bee Beekeeper to visit us and share their fascinating knowledge about bees and beekeeping.

Our children had the wonderful opportunity to observe a real hive up close, learn about the important role bees play in pollination, and discover how honey is made. They asked lots of thoughtful questions and were amazed by the incredible teamwork that happens inside a hive!

A huge thank you to our beekeeper visitor for such an engaging and educational experience. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about these amazing pollinators and the vital part they play in our environment. 🌼🍯🐝

We are inviting children to reflect on what community means to them and express this through either a photograph, a piece of artwork, or a poem - whichever they feel most comfortable creating.

It could be the people who make up their community, the places they walk past on their way to school, or their favourite park where they play with friends. The aim is for the children to be as creative as they like.

Lastly, if you grew up in Coldharbour or the surrounding areas - and especially if you attended Greenacres, it would be wonderful to share any photographs or memories you may have

Today year 3 visited the historic Hall Place for a plants workshop.
They studied seeds, the process of germination, planted their own seeds and took a tour of the gardens to spot all vegetables and fruits that were growing!

Our Reception class had a fantastic visit from the Road Safety Team at Greenwich Council 🚦

Ann delivered a fun and engaging workshop including teaching the children how to stay safe near roads and the importance of always holding a grown-up’s hand when crossing. The children loved joining in and learning such important safety messages!

A big thank you to Ann and the Road Safety Team for visiting Greenacres. 😊

Today was one of those heartwarming days that truly reminds us what community and belonging is all about πŸ’›

Our year 3 children spent the afternoon with some of our wonderful elderly residents in the community, playing board games and sharing a slice of cake.

Moments like these are so important in helping to combat loneliness in our community. It’s amazing how something as simple as this can create such meaningful connections.

Grateful for the time, the stories, and the laughter we shared today. Looking forward to next week! 🍰🎲

Pupil Leadership
Our Eco-councillors led an assembly yesterday talking to the school about the importance of Earth Day. They led some scenario based activities to help us think about saving energy at home and at school. They used agree, build, challenge to share what they thought about those scenarios which opened a really good conversation about our energy use. They then spoke about the Earth Hour challenge that we're having today, an afternoon not using any energy.
