The Roche School started life with five children in 1983 as Mrs Roche’s Coaching Establishment in West Kensington. The focus on “thorough teaching in a homely environment” was popular with families, and led the tutorial school to grow to three classes in two years. Pupils achieved excellent results including scholarships to top schools like Westminster, Wycombe Abbey and St Paul’s, whilst having lots of fun with language lessons and sports and cultural outings organised by Mrs Roche. In 1988, the move was made to the current Wandsworth location and the school officially became The Roche School. This was when Dr Roche joined the team, bringing with him a love of Maths and Science. He was followed not long after by some of our longest standing staff like Mrs Clark, Mrs Gabriella and even Headteacher Mrs Adams! In the style of a genuinely family-owned organisation, Dr and Mrs Roche’s daughters have often acted as school mascots; as a baby, Sophie Roche appeared in plays and joined Mrs Roche on school visits, and Sarah Roche has been a member of the school orchestra for many years. Our alumni continue to show their allegiance to The Roche School: several current staff were at school here, former pupils love to come back for their gap years, and some ex-pupils have even sent their children to us!

Congrats to alumna Claudia who recently graduated from Harvard University where she was investigating how to improve drug delivery. After leaving The Roche School, she went to Saint Paul's Girls' School and then completed a PhD in biomedical engineering at the University of Oxford.

Here's a recap of her time at The Roche School:
“The Roche School was the most amazing school for me. It allowed me to get a fantastic foundation in Drama, Sport and Art as well as inspiring a love for learning in me. The small classes and the incredible teachers allowed me to learn things thick and fast when I understood them easily, and take more time and in more depth when topics were a bit more challenging.”

We were delighted to see so many alumni returning to The Roche School to celebrate our 40th anniversary. The Roche family was overjoyed to see everyone and reminisce about the journey they have been on over the last few decades.

Very proud of this Roche School alumnus who is making great contributions to England cricket and has been named a provisional member of the team for the ICC - International Cricket Council Men's Cricket World Cup 2023:

England have named uncapped Surrey seamer in their squad for the New Zealand series - and he is set to go to World Cup. Here's what to expect from him.

This former Roche School pupil and now former King's College School Wimbledon pupil will, if all goes well, be off to the University of Cambridge to study Engineering in September. So proud of him!

Ex Roche School pupil Aristou Meehan has landed himself a great part in Asteroid City, the new Wes Anderson film. He was educated here at The Roche School before moving to Dulwich College. Dr Spence, Master of Dulwich College, says he “discovered” Aristou himself when he came to judge our Shakespeare competition! Ms Susie and Mrs Adams had fun at the UK premiere at the West Norwood Playhouse.
