This summer term, I’ve enjoyed visiting some of the UK’s top boarding schools. From Brighton to Benenden, it’s been wonderful to meet with such impressive schools on behalf of clients who are looking for advice and placements.

Thank you to all for hosting me this term!

An exciting adventure complete with space pirates, mysterious aliens and an AI-controlled spaceship - which, thanks to a catastrophe on board, is now manned by a crew of children… 🚀👽🧑‍🚀☄️🪐

This is not my usual genre, but I was impressed by how the story and characters seem real and relatable, despite the most unfamiliar setting! It’s advisable for children to read fiction of all types, and I’d highly recommend Orion Lost as an excellent and enjoyable example of the sci-fi genre.

Every year, I start working with new pupils after results day. This year, almost all have asked me this very important question!

After a lovely winter break in Switzerland (thank you ) it’s back home for a busy week of exam and interview prep for my 11+ students - we’re truly in the final stretch now! 🙇‍♀️📚🙇‍♂️

Wishing everyone a very happy new year and sending lots of luck to those who have assessments in the next few weeks. 🤞🍀💫

One of my students insisted that I read Code Name Kingfisher, and I’m so glad that I took her recommendation!

Set mainly in the Netherlands during World War Two, it gives a moving insight into the horrors of the time and, especially, the heroic efforts of the resistance. It is so important for children to understand the facts and nuances of that period in history, and this novel provides a unique, age-appropriate perspective which informs as much as it inspires.

As invitations to interviews and second round assessments start to appear in inboxes this week, some of us are already looking ahead to the next 11+ cycle in 2024!

With the assessments evolving year on year, I spoke with about the future of the 11+. Here are some snippets, and the full article is linked in my bio.

Impossible Creatures needs no introduction - many of my students are fans of the author, and we had all waited eagerly for its release.

Just like all of Katherine Rundell’s novels, it is rich in language, exciting in plot and beautifully constructed. My pupils and I recommend it to all, regardless of age!
