A day of cheering, running, throwing and stickers. Picnic lunch in the sun (phew!) and a lovely way to end the term. Thank you to all of the parents and carers who came to support the children. Well done Ash team for being the overall winners! Can't get all the photos on here, but a taste of the day with the ones shared!

Game, set and match! Some lucky Year 6's had a trip to Wimbledon today. They watched Madison Keys defeat Mirra Andreeva (who is only 16!) in a very tight match. After a walk around the complex exploring the ice cream and souvenir shops, they saw some of the Christopher Eubanks verses Stefano Tsitsipas match. Some absolutely amazing tennis - what an to our young children!

Ofsted are in, but life goes on as normal, and our Year 1 and 2 children had a lovely day at SEA LIFE Brighton yesterday looking at all things underwater! Showing the opportunities we offer for wider curriculum activities.
We are, as always, so proud of our school community for showcasing the best of Parkside!

Thank you to everyone who came and viewed our school Art Gallery yesterday. We had such a fantastic turn out, and the children were all really proud to show off their artist creations from the past year. And those of their classmates. It was also an opportunity to view other areas of learning in the classrooms. A big thank you also to Mrs Tooze, and the Year 5 curators for organising and setting it all up!

A great day stomping and clapping with Ollie from the Beat Goes On . All classes had time learning and composing Stomp-style body percusssion techniques and dance moves. We could feel and hear the energy all around the school - it was brilliant! A huge thanks to Miss Sherlock for organising, and to Friends of Parkside for funding this amazing experience (this is what some of the latest fundraising has gone towards!).

Our sponsored walk commenced today with the Reception and Year 1 classes starting us off. Miss Kay has organised this sponsorship event to raise funds to revamping the outside area, inlcuding the bank and large climbing frame. All of which need some tlc. We have been blown away by the amount of support so far!

Years 3 and 4 had an amazing trip to the British Museum yesterday. It was a hot day and a long coach journey but the children enjoyed the exhibitions - artefacts from Ancient Greece, Romans and some African Art were the highlights. Thanks to all the staff and parents who helped organise and chaperone.

This week is diabetes awareness week. Mrs PB led an assembly this morning with two children who have Type 1 diabetes. They explained how they look after themselves, what diabetes means, and that having diabetes doesn't stop them from doing anything their friends do. A quick hands up survey at the end showed that our school community are now more aware about what it means to have diabetes and that the technology supporting children and adults with diabetes is amazing! If you would like to find out more, or talk further with your children, please access this informative website https://www.diabetes.org.uk/diabetes-week or watch this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=blkP18iawjE

A busy sporting week this week.
Tennis and cricket were on the agenda, and children from the Year 3, 4 and 6 clubs attended events in our new sport uniform, funded by the Government's Sports Premium funding. We are also able to attend these events using the PTA funded minibus and parent helpers - thank you to everyone who is able to help, and to those encouraging from the sidelines! A big thank you to Miss Worsell for organising these activities with other schools and teams. We love taking part!
