Turning something old into something new! 🎨♻️

At ABC Studio, sustainability is an important part of our ethos and something we introduce through everyday experiences. For our recycling wall activity, our creative minds explored a variety of clean recycled materials, painting, sticking and transforming them into their own unique creations. 🌱

We love finding ways to reuse the resources around us rather than simply throwing them away. Even the simplest materials — from pieces of plastic to ripped paper — can be given a new purpose and turned into something exciting.

A Day on the Farm! 🐷🌾

Our playground transformed into a whole farm, ready for our little farmers to explore! There were sheep to “shear”, cows to “milk”, animals to discover and even hungry pigs and sheep waiting to be fed. 🐮🌽

Through hands-on role play, everyone had the opportunity to learn more about different farm animals, how they are cared for and some of the important jobs farmers do every day.

A fun setup filled with imagination, exploration and plenty of farmyard learning!

Little Dentists at Work! 🪥🦷

Our little dentists explored what a dentist does and why looking after our teeth is so important. They got hands-on cleaning teeth while talking about how we can keep them clean, strong and healthy.

With toothbrushing already part of our daily routine after lunch, there was plenty of familiar knowledge to share! Our curious minds could talk about the process and even demonstrate brushing in gentle circles. ✨

Connecting play with everyday routines helps turn healthy habits into skills for life.

Diving into life Under the Sea! 🐠🌊

Our little explorers took a trip to the “Under the Sea” exhibition at Horniman Museum, discovering more about the fascinating world beneath the waves. From exploring ocean life to learning about the creatures and environments found beneath the surface, there was plenty to spark curiosity and conversation. 🐚🪸

Trips like these are a wonderful way to bring learning to life, giving curious minds the opportunity to discover, ask questions and build their understanding of our oceans and the incredible life within them. 💙🌍

Little Builders at Work! 🔨👷

Hard hats on and tools at the ready! Our little builders got busy exploring different tools and materials, proudly “making buildings”, “building a house” and creating their own constructions through imaginative play. 🏗️🧱

Building-themed books added even more to the experience, introducing different tools, construction vehicles and the important jobs builders do. Along the way, busy hands developed fine motor skills, problem-solving, creativity and lots of new vocabulary. 💚

A Week of Creating, Exploring & Learning!

Another week packed with opportunities to learn, create and explore! Little chefs got busy with cooking activities, creative minds enjoyed plenty of arts and crafts, while busy hands explored fine motor toys and challenges. We also continued developing early maths skills through playful number recognition activities. 🔢🎨🍴

So many different experiences, all supporting development through hands-on learning and, most importantly, lots of fun! ✨

Firefighters to the rescue! 🔥🚒

Our little firefighters were ready for action as they raced around the playground searching for “fires” and putting them out! Alongside all the excitement, we talked about fire safety, what firefighters do and how they help keep us safe.

This hands-on role play brought learning to life while supporting teamwork, communication, gross motor skills and imaginative play. Learning about people who help us has never been so exciting!

Meet Duncan, our Chief Happiness Officer! 💛🐾

A very special member of our team came to visit both ABC Studio branches — Duncan, our wellbeing dog! His visits will now become a regular part of nursery life, bringing plenty of cuddles, smiles and calm moments along the way. 🐶

Spending time with a gentle dog can support young children’s social and emotional development by creating a calming environment, encouraging emotional regulation and building confidence. These interactions also provide wonderful opportunities to develop empathy, kindness and positive social skills while learning how to safely and respectfully interact with animals.

Research shows that exposure to dogs during infancy and early childhood is associated with immune development and a lower risk of conditions such as childhood asthma, respiratory allergies and eczema.

We think our Chief Happiness Officer might just have the best job in the nursery! 💚

Tiny hands, big learning! 🎨🐅

Our toddlers celebrated International Tiger Day with a colourful tiger-themed painting activity, exploring orange and black while becoming familiar with the sounds and marks of the numbers 1–3. By creating one big picture together, everyone had the opportunity to develop parallel play, share tools and resources, and enjoy the experience side by side.

It’s wonderful how one simple activity can support so many areas of development—from early mathematics and communication to creativity, social skills and sensory exploration—all while learning about these amazing animals.
