Worth to read and reflect on it!
In the meantime, I have to say that I cannot wait for the second session of 'How to explore race with children in the Early Years Setting' with Liz Pemberton .
Birth to 5 Matters experts hit back at criticism of guidance's stance on anti-racism by Conservative MPs
The group that developed Birth to 5 Matters has responded to criticisms by Tory MPs about the use of the term ‘white privilege’, in its recently published guidance, when addressing issues of equality in early years settings.

Love this quote because it absolutely describes what I see in Playhood everyday.
It's this toggling between the BIG ideas that we value most and want to instil in our children and the everyday minutiae of each child's lived experience that feel's so special and takes so much thought and preparation.

Last week launched the results of the UK’s largest ever public perception study into the Early Years. Working with IPSOS Mori they spoke to over half a million people.
They found:
#1 There is a widespread lack of understanding of the importance of the Early Years. Most parents believe it is equally important as other periods of childhood. It really isn’t. There is scientific consensus that the period from conception to age 5 is critical in providing the foundation for future physical and mental health, as well as overall wellbeing and productivity.
#2 Parents need help to cultivate and sustain more support networks to enhance our mental health and wellbeing. Coronavirus has done a grand job of exposing parents' vulnerability, the question now is how the Government and society responds.
#3 Society, as a whole, has a role to play in parents and children's Early Years experience. Back to the importance of that Village again.
I could talk all day about how Playhood is a direct response to these issues and proving to be a fascinating experiment in what happens to families and teachers lives when we flip the norm on its head. We’ve almost begun taking for granted the way we work here and how different it is to a standard nursery.
We’re writing our own rules of engagement. Co-designing our children's Early Years experience and collaborating on our professional development, whichever field we're in. Barriers have been broken down and what we’ve created is intimate, and so far, both invigorating and liberating.

I work in a nursery with an amazing garden and no effort for me to encourage children's learning outdoor in Covid-19 times.
Children are naturally attracted to the outdoor environment!
They want to spend time outside no matter weather conditions.
The amount of experiences that we have been through for the past three months - exploring little creatures, life cycles, seasonal changes, leaves shapes, gardening, smells, running freely, reading books with birds twitting all around - have been uncountable and extraordinary!
Learning outdoor should become a must beyond Covid times!
Could 2020 be the year of outdoor learning? - Active For Life
The new school year presents an opportunity for schools to reimagine the school day and explore the use of outdoor learning and nature classrooms.

New blog post
https://www.playhood.club/blog/is-this-the-year-we-finally-come-to-understand-the-importance-of-our-childrens-early-years
It’s a strange thing that human beings almost never change while they’re in their comfort zone.
Some of the most memorable conversations we’ve had this year have been discussions about the sheer, gob-smacking scale of change we’re seeing happening all around us.
What will be the consequences for the way we work? Is the commute over forever? What is happening to our cities and our social lives?
And as parents and childcare providers; what will this do to the way we think about our children’s early years?
This blog brings together the research I did on mat leave while looking for a nursery for my son. Research that resulted in the opening of Playhood this summer. Arguably, I took the assignment a little far:)
The events of this year have shone a spotlight on childcare issues that were already bubbling, now overflowing. We hope it will help parents dig a little deeper and inspire new ways of thinking.

A very interesting article from the New York Times and shared by :
"For kids, of course, play isn’t about learning or planning or regulating emotions. It’s about having fun. Play may be “evolution’s way of building in an insurance policy” to learn and develop, said Dr. Feigenson. It’s so enjoyable that most kids can’t resist, and along the way they develop the skills they need to succeed as adults".
