English scrpit:

I am working as a GP in the Luton area. As part of my work, I have met many patients who are worried about taking the vaccines.

There have been many false stories going around and it can be difficult to know who to trust.

As a doctor who has received the vaccine, I am here to help explain what that we know at the moment.

The vaccines were already tested on many humans. Millions of people have now taken the vaccines in the UK. Most of these are the people who we must protect from the virus –our elders and those who have bad health.

There are no animal products in the vaccines used the UK. Like many medicines, the Oxford vaccine contains ethanol, but in very small amounts. The Muslim council of Great Britain has confirmed that both the Oxford and Pfizer vaccines are halal.

Life is sacred and the vaccines will save lives.

One of my elderly patients passed away with COVID. He had refused COVID 19 vaccine. When I heard I called them to extend my condolences. His son told me that grandson had learnt on the social media someone had Bell’s palsy after getting vaccines. Therefore the family decided NO for COVID 19 vaccine. I had a little chat with the son and the grandson
I asked grandson whether he stops his father (a taxi driver) using seat belt whilst driving. He said no. I said why would you not stop him wearing seat belt? He said to me doc I am not stupid because it protects the driver if they had a collision. I said vaccine works exactly the same way.

What the scientists are saying is that if you take the vaccine you will be more protected than if you do not.

There are new variants of the virus present in the UK. Scientists are checking how well the vaccines work on all virus variants. For now, the scientists say that the vaccines protect you against the original virus and the new variants.

We have been wearing masks, keeping our distance and washing our hands to protect our families and communities. When you have been vaccinated, you will still need to be careful to help protect your family and friends. The vaccine is an important step in helping families see each other again, in allowing our businesses to open and for the community to heal.

Dr Mehmood concludes with a personal testimony of his own experience of receiving the vaccine (how he felt after getting the jab) and discusses some of the Pahari community leaders who have also been vaccinated.

With restrictions beginning to ease, let's help make our communities, families and friends as safe as possible by getting vaccinated! Join Cllrs Raja Aslam Khan (Luton) and Khatija Malik (Luton) in getting the jab!💪 Check out our new vaccine video with lots of helpful info from Dr Tahir Mehmood (in Pahari) #
