It’s often said that a child’s struggles aren't failures, they're communication trying to happen.💪
This October, as we mark both ADHD Awareness Month and International AAC Talkies Month, we must focus on listening with better tools and deeper understanding.
For a child with ADHD, their challenge often isn't attention it's executive function and regulating their hyper-alert minds. 🦸♂️
For a child needing Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC), the challenge is finding their reliable voice.
We've seen first-hand that when a specialist tutor combines strategies for focus (e.g., movement breaks, visual schedules) with embracing AAC as a valid language, we see immediate breakthroughs.
We must celebrate all communication methods and ensure our support is as multifaceted as the children we serve.🥳
We believe every child has a right to learn in a way that works for them!

Securing an EOTAS package is stressful enough without seeing your child emotionally regress in the meantime. 😔
Our work with Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA) shows us that relationship-building must precede education.
Our Tutors such as Laura start working immediately, often engaging a child through their current special interest to introduce them to learning, completely removing the overt 'demand' of the curriculum. 📚
This early, proactive intervention focuses on anxiety regulation first.
When the EOTAS package is secured, the child is ready to learn because the relationship, the foundation for all progress is already rock-solid.
We believe that every child deserves to learn in a way that works for them. ☺️

To the parent who is called 'overprotective' because you're fighting for a diagnosis. 👩💻
To the parent who is told to 'stop making excuses' for a child's behaviour.
To the parent who is told they're just a 'helicopter parent' for being an advocate.
You're not overreacting. You are reacting to a world that doesn't yet see your child's genius, or understand their struggles.👏
A parent’s intuition is a powerful thing. You know your child’s needs better than anyone else, and every action you take from battling bureaucracy to researching late at night comes from a place of unconditional love and a fierce desire to protect their potential. ✨
The label of 'advocate' is a far more accurate and honourable one.
At SEND Tutoring, we create personalised learning strategies that are tailored to your child's own way of thinking, learning and doing.

A diagnosis like ADHD, dyslexia, or autism is a starting point, not an endpoint. ✨
The real journey begins with understanding how your child's brain is wired and translating that knowledge into daily progress.
Here are three steps we take with every family to make that happen:
1. Go Beyond the Label: An ADHD diagnosis tells you a lot, but understanding your child's specific triggers for distraction or their unique hyper-focus is key. We work with parents to observe how a child learns best, is it through movement? Visual aids? A quiet space? This informs every aspect of our plan.✅
2. Use Multi-Sensory Tools: For many neurodivergent learners, textbooks alone don't work. We use multi-sensory teaching to make lessons tangible. For a child with dyscalculia, this might mean using blocks to understand numbers; for dyslexia, it could be tracing letters in sand.✅
3. Prioritise 'Micro-Wins': Confidence is everything. We break down big goals into tiny, achievable steps. When a child consistently succeeds even with a small task it builds momentum and self-belief. This strategy helps them feel competent, not overwhelmed.✅
By taking this holistic approach, we help parents turn a child's unique needs into a roadmap for success.
Every child deserves to learn in a way that works for them.

When a parent chooses home education for a child with special needs, they are not opting out; they are opting in to a level of personalised commitment that is truly profound. They are taking back control of their child’s learning journey.💪
At SEND Tutoring, we understand that education looks different for every family. Our services are designed to support children receiving Education Other Than At School (EOTAS) and those who are homeschooling.
We are able to work with Local Authorities (LAs) for children with an EOTAS plan, we provide tailored, professional tutoring for families who have chosen to home educate independently.📚
This path allows for a flexible, tailored environment where education isn't tied to a rigid curriculum.
It can be built around a child’s interests, their unique learning style, and their emotional and sensory needs.
We’ve seen incredible transformations as children with complex needs thrive in a stress free environment, guided by a curriculum that is truly bespoke to them.📝
Home education is a journey, and with the right support, it can be a profoundly empowering one for both the child and the entire family. It proves that learning can happen anywhere, on any terms.
Every child deserves to learn in a way that works for them.

For years, I've heard educators and even parents label children with SEND as 'lazy' or 'unmotivated'.
It's a convenient, but profoundly untrue, myth that breaks my heart every time I hear it. 😔
My opinion? A child is never lazy; they are simply misunderstood.
Behind every perceived lack of motivation is often a very real barrier. It could be sensory overload, executive function challenges, or a learning style that clashes with the curriculum.
The child isn't giving up; they’re trying to navigate a world that doesn't make sense to them, and they are exhausted.😔
Our role as educators is to act as detectives, not judges. 🕵️♀️
We must look past the behaviour and find the root cause, creating a learning environment that not only makes sense to them, but also ignites their natural curiosity.
When a child feels truly understood, motivation isn’t an issue it’s a natural outcome. 🦸♂️
Every child deserves to learn in a way that works for them.

Traditional education taught me I was a failure. Now I lead 70+ specialist tutors who prove daily that different doesn't mean deficient.
The system labeled me. Put me in a box. Made me believe I wasn't smart enough.
But here's what I learned: The system was wrong.
Today, SEND Tutoring works with hundreds of children who've been told the same lies I was told. Children with dyslexia, ADHD, PDA who are brilliant - just not in the way schools expect.
Our tutors don't try to fix these children. We celebrate how their minds work.
→ Multi-sensory learning that matches their natural patterns
→ Confidence-building that schools often miss
→ Individual attention that transforms "can't" into "can"
The child who struggles with traditional reading might excel with visual storytelling. The student who can't sit still might learn best through movement.
Different isn't deficient. It's just different.
And when we honour that difference, extraordinary things happen.
Every child deserves to learn in a way that works for them.
