Chris Deering Music Lessons

Hi!

My name is Chris Deering. I'm a professional musician, tutor and sound engineer based in East london.

I first began learning to play music in 2008 joining a school band school. After playing a few school concerts and local pubs I realized I wanted to pursue a career in this. I went on to complete a BTEC at college and then a music degree in 2016 at the Brighton Institute of Modern Music.

Since completing my degree I’ve gone on to work professionally as a musician. Some of my highlights include performing at Winter Wonderland in 2022 with Shannon Herbert and at Weddings Across the UK with Wura (The Voice UK). My personal musical highlights included performing at my own parent's wedding in 2023.

I began teaching in 2018 to share his passion for music with others. My students have gone on to complete music exams up to grade 8 and study at university.

Raphael has been learning to play acoustic guitar with Chris for 9 months now, and really enjoys playing. Chris is patient and as well as making lessons fun and engaging, shows great diplomacy when giving constructive feedback, which is really important when teaching younger children.

Raphael’s technical ability is developing well and he has really grown in confidence over the last month or so now he has built a good understanding of reading music. As well as working through his music book, Chris has also taught Raphael to play parts of songs that he likes, which has been a great way to motivate him to practise regularly! - Irene
