Small Explorers Pre-school Community located pre-schools in the Selsdon area. Forestdale Forum - Term time, 9 months - 4 years, open 7:30-6:00. wrap-Around Care and Holiday Clubs.

St Francis Church Monks Hill- Full time nursery, 9 months - 4 years, open 7:30-6:00. Small Explorers is a community pre school that caters for the individual needs of 13 months to five year olds. We offer individual learning plans to support the children's own needs and actively encourage learning through play. We work alongside Phonics Stars who visit the setting once a week. This enables the children to learn the fundamental skills of phonics through play singing and fun activities that we embed into the weekly plans to support the children learning and retention. We do weekly dedicated multi sports sessions, weekly cooking sessions and Forest schools sessions. Pets and Ponies also visit regularly so the children get to meet lots of different animals. We use our local environment to enable the children to explore and learn such as walking to the local shops visits to the parks and of course the beautiful surrounding Woodlands. We have parent meetings to praise the development of the children and to develop next steps to support progression.

📚🐻 Bringing story time to life through play!

This week, Goldilocks and the Three Bears jumped straight off the pages and into our play as the children recreated their very own teddy bear tea party. 🫖🧸

Creating play experiences inspired by the stories we read gives children the opportunity to explore characters, retell familiar moments and use their own imagination to take the story in new directions. ✨

It’s a lovely way to build early literacy and communication skills while making books feel exciting, interactive and memorable. 💚

Because sometimes the best way to explore a story is to step right inside it! 📖✨

As the new term begins, nursery and preschool drop offs can bring some big emotions, for little ones and for parents. 💚

Whether your child is starting nursery for the first time or simply getting back into their routine after the summer break, separation anxiety is completely normal and can take a little time to settle.

Keeping goodbyes short, staying calm, creating a familiar morning routine and being consistent can all help make those first few weeks that little bit easier.💚

Before long, those tearful drop offs can turn into confident little waves goodbye as they learn that they’re safe, cared for and that you’ll always come back. 🥰

🎉 ONE WHOLE YEAR of Bright Adventures at Courtwood Primary School! 💜

What a year it’s been! From crafts and games to gardening, outdoor adventures and plenty of fun in between, we’ve loved creating a space where children can enjoy their time before and after the school day. 🌱🎨⚽️

A huge thank you to all of the children, families and Courtwood Primary School for being part of our first year. We’re so proud of everything Bright Adventures has become and can’t wait to see what year two brings! 🥰✨

We’ve kicked things off with painting flower pots and planting seeds, making pasta jewellery, trips to the park, football and plenty of fun in the sunshine! 🌱🎨⚽

There are just a few days left to join us this summer, so if you still need childcare (or simply a fun-filled day for the kids!), there’s still time to book. 💚
