Lewisham Arthouse (LAH) is a not-for-profit artist-led co-operative, based in a Grade 2 listed building in Deptford.

Founded in 1992 it provides 40 artist studios with associated public gallery and workshop programmes.

Lewisham Arthouse is going through a period of transition following our successful bid for the National Lottery Heritage grant for £3.2m.

We will be evolving, learning and growing as an artist co-op, a space for sharing and creating as part of the wider community. Join us as we open our doors for upcoming events discussing affordable studios, the public library, with Open House, open studios and more.

We’re happy to announce that we are once again taking part in Open City’s Open House Festival.

Saturday 19 September | 10am–6pm

Deptford Central Library was opened in 1914 and was one of the first purpose-built open-access libraries in the UK. Since 1994, it has been the home of Lewisham Arthouse.

Guided tours throughout the day will provide the opportunity to experience some of the original features of this Edwardian Baroque building and learn more about its history and present use.

Lewisham Arthouse presents What Still Grows, a group exhibition bringing together fifteen artists working across painting, sculpture, textiles, moving image, scent and living materials, curated by Rusha Cheng and Zhuoran Fu, who work together as the independent curatorial collective Sensaflare.

We are excited to announce Maya Ramnarine’s Broadcast programme SKY LARKING WITH MAYA & FRIENDS. Over the course of five days, Maya will transform the space into a live radio hub, bringing together friends, family, and local collaborators. The programme will include live performances, talks with guest hosts, and collaborative radio shows.

Maya Ramnarine is the recipient of the Goldsmiths & Lewisham Arthouse Short Residency and Exhibition award.

Maya’s show will run from :

Thursday September 10th to Monday 14th from at Lewisham Art House, 140 Lewisham Way, SE14 6PD, London.

The opening event will take place on September 10th from 6-9pm

We are thrilled to congratulate and welcome Maya Ramnarine as the recipient of the 5th Goldsmiths & Lewisham Arthouse Short Residency and Exhibition Award!

Maya Ramnarine recently graduated from the BA (Hons) Fine Art program at Goldsmiths. She is a multidisciplinary artist working with sound, installation and broadcasting. Her practice involves relational sonic and visual dioramas that have materialised into sound sculptures. A generative dimension of radio culture forms the basis of Maya Ramnarine’s research, a subject entwined with her own ancestral history. For the Lewisham Arthouse Residency, she will re-house The Skylarking modular radio booth, at once sculpture, broadcasting device and social infrastructure, whilst operating as a functioning speaker system. Over the course of the residency, Maya will activate the space through her web radio network bringing together friends, family, and local collaborators. This will include performances, talks with guest hosts, as well as collaborative radio shows.

The Goldsmiths & Lewisham Arthouse Short Residency and Exhibition Award includes a stipend of £1000, a 4-week studio residency at LAH, mentorship and support from LAH, loan of AV equipment from Goldsmiths and a one-week solo exhibition at LAH.

Call for Submissions, LAH Film Commission

Lewisham Arthouse is commissioning a series of short films exploring what it means to have a studio at the Arthouse.
We are looking for filmmakers to create authentic and personal films that reflect the people, studios and creative community within the building. We want to hear real stories about what a studio means to the artists who work here.
Open to all filmmakers. Lewisham Arthouse studio members are especially encouraged to apply.
To apply, please submit:
• A written pitch (up to 300 words) or a voice/video message (up to 2 minutes)
• The story you want to tell
• The artist(s), themes or spaces you would like to feature
• How many films you would like to make (up to three ideas)
• A short introduction about yourself
• Links to previous work or a showreel
Deadline: 31 July 2026, 12pm
Commission Fee: £500
£250 on signing and £250 on completion.

We are excited to announce an upcoming workshop in sonic storytelling, found objects and hand built instruments.

Exploring expanded graphic scores and the musical attributes of discarded objects.

No prior experience necessary, all ages welcome.

At Lewisham Arthouse, 24th July 18:00 - 20:30.

Participants are asked to bring along an object/objects - something that sparks interest for its form, sonic potential or life story. It could be something you found at the river, by the bins, on the street, or have had in your living room for years.

Collide are proud to present this their first exhibition as a collective, exploring responses to the concepts of shifting time, identity and memory and the unstable relationship with place, the natural world and materiality.

Coming from a wealth of diverse experience, Collide Collective’s six artists use video, interactive sound, sculpture, textiles, installation and drawing to explore common themes including the liminal spaces and shifting viewpoints that have been discovered through their collaborative process.
