Today we β€˜wore it green’ to show our support as a school for Mental Health Awareness Week. It can feel difficult to open up a conversation about mental health, but talking about it can help those suffering and make it more acceptable for anyone to seek help and get on the road to recovery.

Our Year 9s have been working on their batik creations with embroidery embellishment. Absolutely beautiful work πŸŽ¨πŸ§΅πŸ‘

Students in Year 9 had the opportunity to show off their amazing creative skills during a visit to the Sky studios in Osterley, home to Sky News, Sky Sports and a host of other content creation from this global media giant. Following a tour of the campus to see the Sky Newsroom and Sky Sports studio, students were able to meet 2 of the 7000 people working on site for a chance to find out more about the range of career opportunities on offer. It was then into the studio where students created, filmed and edited their own movie trailer.

Thinking about this unforgettable trip! 40 Year 9 & 10 students explored Ypres, Belgium, on a History & Battlefields journey. Guided by experts, they learned about WWI battles and soldier life. Highlights included chocolate shops, Passchendaele Museum, and the moving Menin Gate Last Post Ceremony. πŸ«πŸ›οΈπŸ•―οΈ In a touching moment, students honored WWI heroes with a poppy wreath, inscribed β€˜Featherstone Remembers.’ πŸ’

A group of Year 12 students were invited to visit the Oxford University Materials
Science Department last month followed by lunch in the great hall at Mansfield College. Thank you to Oxford for welcoming us and to Mansfield for showing our students how welcoming and diverse the college is.

11 Year 7s had the privilege of joining 100s of other school children to mark the 45th anniversary of the Southall uprising and death of teacher, Blair Peach. They viewed the beautiful artwork that they had created with the help of the Southall Community Alliance and John Lyon’s Charity and learnt more about the experiences of the migrant communities of Southall in the 60s and 70s. A truly memorable day.

Gurdit (pictured here) and team mates Thishan and Canute won the Imperial College Science and Innovation Award. Teams were asked to develop a new and innovative scientific solution to help acheive one of the UN's Global Goals for Sustainable Development. Congratulations to our team from FHS πŸ˜ŠπŸ†
