Ofsted Registered Childminder and babysitter When a child joins my setting, I begin with an observation to assess their starting point in development.
Teddie’s Childminding Aims and Objectives
Approach to Children:
I believe in an individualized approach for every child. This allows me to identify their next steps and create a plan to support their progress both in group activities and one-on-one interactions. Key areas of focus include:
• Developing gross and fine motor skills
• Enhancing social skills and self-regulation
• Supporting speech an
d language development
Above all, I strive to create a safe, loving, and comfortable environment where each child feels valued. I ensure that their voices are heard and their needs are met with personalized support.
……………………………………………………………………….. Activities
I incorporate a variety of engaging activities to support children’s development:
• Reading & Singing – We read books and sing songs daily to enhance speech and language skills.
• Educational Play – Children play with educational toys and resources, promoting sharing and key British values such as kindness, support, and politeness.
• Creative Activities – Drawing, colouring, and crafts help develop fine motor skills and encourage creativity.
• Library Visits – Every Wednesday, we visit the library to foster a love for books and attend the Story & Rhymes playgroup.
• Oral Hygiene Awareness – We use special resources to promote good oral hygiene habits.
• Outdoor Play – Weather permitting, we go for walks or visit the nearby playground to support physical activity.
• Soft Play – On the last Thursday of every month, we take a trip to a soft play area for fun and social interaction. These activities create a well-rounded environment where children can learn, explore, and grow in a supportive setting.
………………………………………………………………………………………………. Meals
I promote healthy eating by providing nutritious and balanced meals.
• Healthy Snacks – Children enjoy fresh veggie sticks and a variety of fruits.
• Home-Cooked Meals – Meals are freshly prepared by me, ensuring quality and variety.
• Fun Cooking Activities – Occasionally, we make pizzas together, with the dough prepared from scratch.
• Independent Eating – Children are encouraged to eat by themselves, but I offer support when needed. My goal is to create a positive mealtime experience, helping children develop good eating habits in a warm and supportive environment.
…………………………………………………………………………………. Nap Time
Children usually nap from 12:30 PM. To help them wind down, we have 10–15 minutes of quiet TV time with calming videos like “Good Nighty, Shapes” and “Good Night, Animals”, which support self-soothing. Each child has their own individual blanket, ensuring comfort and a sense of security during rest time. My goal is to create a peaceful and relaxing environment where children feel safe and well-rested.
……………………………………………………………………………………
I just want to help kids be more independent in a fun and supportive way. Whether it’s eating by themselves, making friends, or learning new skills, I’m there to cheer them on and make sure they feel happy and comfortable.
