Did you know that regular outdoor play is one of the most powerful tools in early childhood development?

At Broadhurst School, our spacious garden and playground give children the space they need to move, explore and grow, both physically and emotionally. From developing gross motor skills to building social confidence and reducing stress, the benefits of outdoor activity in the early years are immense.

We're proud to offer our children an environment where fresh air and free movement are part of every day. 💚

Our children had the most magical interactive storytelling workshop with Little Supernovas, where every child became part of the story.

At Broadhurst, we regularly create opportunities for children to interact, participate and learn through meaningful experiences like this, supporting their development while introducing new ideas and building new skills.

Story time is more than just listening – it’s about understanding, participation, and building confidence as children begin to express their thoughts and ideas. Our teachers encourage active engagement by asking open ended questions before, during and after reading, supporting children to predict, reflect and deepen their comprehension.

A little throwback to some of our favourite moments from last term.

Our Pre-Reception children had an exciting visit to the local fire station, where they met real firefighters, explored the fire engine, and learned all about the people who help keep us safe. Meanwhile, our Nursery children enjoyed a magical trip to the library, listening to stories and discovering the joy of books - something at the heart of everything we do.

These special experiences bring learning to life and create memories that last well beyond the classroom 🤍

🐰✨ Ark Farm visited Broadhurst today! ✨🐰

The children met a range of animals including bunnies, guinea pigs, chinchillas, hedgehogs, ducklings and even a tiny harvest mouse. This hands-on experience supported their understanding of farm life and animal care, while encouraging gentle handling, confidence and curiosity.

This year, 100% of Broadhurst School pupils received 4+ offers, achieving an outstanding total of 75 offers across the cohort. These included 4 offers from Westminster, 6 from NLCS, 6 from Haberdasher’s and 9 from The Hall, among other leading independent schools.

This achievement reflects not only the children’s hard work and confidence, but also the dedication, care and expertise of our teachers, who support each child individually throughout their journey.

We are incredibly proud of our pupils!

As we settle back in after half term, the children have been immersing themselves in Chinese New Year celebrations at Broadhurst. They have been exploring the rich traditions behind the festival, practising writing numbers in Chinese, learning about the symbolism of traditional foods, and even trying their hand at using chopsticks.

A joyful and enriching start to the second half of term, filled with cultural discovery, curiosity and hands-on learning. 🧧🐉

This term marked the start of our new expert talk series, Navigating the Early Years, designed to support our families and offer practical guidance to help navigate the early years with confidence.

Our first session welcomed Linda Russell , an experienced early childhood specialist and children’s sleep expert, who shared practical advice and strategies to help families build positive and consistent bedtime routines, as well as answering parents’ most common sleep-related questions.

We hope parents found the session helpful and reassuring, and we look forward to sharing more expert guidance in the coming months.
