Safeguarding in the early years - the role of the designated safeguarding lead
Thursday 1 & 8 August, 1pm - 3pm (Two x 2-hour sessions)

This interactive Virtual Classroom will enable you to:

- explain the responsibilities of all educators and identify the role of the Designated Person
- explore how beliefs and values regarding child abuse and neglect can influence practice
- describe the key legislation and guidance that underpins safeguarding
- identify categories of abuse, contextual abuse and the factors that make children more vulnerable to abuse and neglect
- consider barriers to disclosure
- respond appropriately to safeguarding/child protection concerns, or allegations against staff/volunteers
- explain what happens following a referral
- explore the principles of recording and sharing information, including consent and confidentiality
