Today, we're celebrating the incredible teachers, lecturers, coaches and support staff who make a lasting difference in the lives of our students every day.

At United Colleges Group, we're especially proud to mark this year's Thank a Teacher Day alongside the fantastic news that we have been named a Silver Winner in the Pearson National Teaching Awards for Transformational Use of Digital Technology.

This recognition reflects six years of innovation and dedication from colleagues across UCG who have worked tirelessly to ensure every learner has access to the technology, support and opportunities they need to succeed.

We're also delighted to celebrate Dr Azmol Hussain, who was Highly Commended, and Naheed Aslam, who received a Certificate of Achievement in the Awards’ FE Lecturer of the Year category. Their dedication to transforming learning and supporting student success is truly inspiring.

We loved welcoming visitors to our campus and sharing more about life at the College of North West London - from our courses and facilities to the support and opportunities available to learners.

Our ESOL teams from Willesden, Maida Vale and Paddington attended the 2026 Ascentis ESOL Conference last week 📚

The day included a very informative funding update session from Beej Kaczmarczyk, perfectly timed as teams finalise plans for 2026/27, alongside a Trauma Informed Practice session focused on supporting learners seeking refuge and asylum.

Staff also explored cyclical learning with a part-time Ofsted inspector and attended a session on teaching writing for ESOL delivered by Judith Kirsch, which gave the team some great ideas around using AI to support writing in the classroom 👏🏽

Our Science students recently had the opportunity to hear from industry experts about the Oxford Space Course 🚀

The talk gave learners an insight into the summer programme taking place in Oxford in 2026, including what the course involves and how students can get involved in this exciting opportunity.

Sessions like these help students explore new possibilities, hear directly from experts and gain insight into where a future in science could take them.

From biology and chemistry to physics and maths, our Science courses combine theory with hands-on practical learning, helping students prepare for university, research and careers across a wide range of industries 🔬

CNWL plumbing students took a trip to Baxi At Home’s training centre in Dartford last month for a full day’s advanced course on hot water cylinders.

Our students jumped at the chance to refine their skills with the heating and hot water experts, and their existing knowledge clearly shone through when they were described as a “fantastic group” and a “credit to the college” by the Baxi team.

We’re so grateful for the support that Baxi offers our students, and excited to be exploring further partnership developments to provide our learners with even more opportunities to learn from the best. Watch this space!
