Happy International Women's Day!
In classical Chinese martial arts the women have often been the disrupters. Kung Fu disruptor in Chief: Fang Qi Niang.
She founded the most influential martial art to come from the East, acknowledged as the foundation of Karate, Wing Chun and many fighting arts.
A 17th century woman fighter famed across Southern China, Taiwan and Japan for her ability to defeat all-comers, she gave her opponents a choice: death, injury or defeat. They chose defeat so they could learn from her.
She raised a stable of famous fighters, male and female and taught them how to survive – and here we are – say her name.
