This day raises awareness of abuse, neglect, and exploitation affecting older adults, and the barriers that can make disclosure or help-seeking difficult. Psychologists working with older adults pay attention to dignity, autonomy, safeguarding, memory, relationships, and vulnerability within systems of care.

The focus is on protection, compassion, and promoting safety without removing independence unnecessarily.

Question: What do you think helps older adults feel respected and protected in care and community settings?

We are delighted to be welcoming you to our June Workshop: Tree of Life for Unsuccessful DClinPsy Applicants.

Not securing a place can bring grief, self-doubt, and a sense of disconnection, and yet it can also be a moment to reconnect with who you are, what has sustained you, and the story you want to carry forward. This masterclass offers an engaging, compassionate space to explore strength and growth after rejection, identify the values, strengths and relationships that continue to nourish you, and begin re-authoring a narrative that honours both loss and resilience… alongside others who truly “get it”.

Workshop highlights
• Feel connected to a narrative of strength and growth after DClinPsy rejection
• Identify the values, strengths and relationships that continue to nourish you
• Begin re-authoring a story that honours both loss and resilience

World Blood Donor Day raises awareness of the importance of blood donation for emergency care and long-term health treatment. Psychological factors such as fear, beliefs, community connection, and altruism can influence whether people feel able to donate. Campaigns like this also highlight themes of social responsibility, empathy, and helping others in unseen ways.

Question: What motivates people, in your view, to take part in acts of community support like donation or volunteering?

When people experience setbacks, they often experience a form of disenfranchised grief (Doka, 1989), where the loss feels significant but is not always recognised by others.

Many aspiring psychologists spend years gaining experience, developing competencies, attending interviews, and imagining what life on training might look like.

When an offer doesn't come, it can feel as though something important has been lost, even if others struggle to understand why.

If this year's outcome wasn't what you hoped for, you're not alone. On 27th June, we are hosting Tree of Life for Unsuccessful DClinPsy Applicants, a reflective workshop designed to help aspiring psychologists reconnect with their strengths, values, and hopes for the future.

The workshop is included within Pathfinder Membership. Join before 27th June using code NEWLEAF and receive your first month free.

Selective reduction is a technique used in content analysis where the researcher narrows down a large body of text to focus on specific words or patterns that are central to the research question. This process helps streamline the analysis and makes it more manageable by organizing data into meaningful categories.
