πŸ“πŸŒ Little chefs making healthy fruit kebabs! πŸ‡πŸŽ

Our children have been making their own fruit kebabs!

Choosing their favourite fruits, arranging them and carefully creating their kebabs provided opportunities to develop independence and fine motor skills, while we talked about different fruits, colours, tastes and the importance of healthy eating.

A delicious activity supporting the EYFS areas of physical development, mathematics, communication and language and understanding the World.

And, of course, the best part was getting to eat our creations! πŸ˜‹πŸ’š

πŸ…πŸŒ± From little seedlings to juicy tomatoes! πŸŒ±πŸ…

Our children have loved watching our tomato plants grow this summer. From planting and watering to spotting the first flowers and waiting patiently for the tomatoes to ripen, they've been involved every step of the way.

Growing our own food gives children a hands-on way to learn about where food comes from, how plants grow and what they need to thrive. It also encourages patience, responsibility and a love of nature.

A delicious lesson in Understanding the World! πŸŒΏπŸ’š

πŸ₯₯🎨 A feast for the senses in our Baby Room! 🎨πŸ₯₯

Our babies enjoyed a wonderfully messy sensory experience, using coconut yoghurt as paint to create their own marks and patterns with their hands and fingers.

As they touched, spread and squished the yoghurt, they explored its cool, smooth texture, creamy colour and gentle coconut scent. Being an edible material also meant that babies could safely explore it with their mouths if they wanted to, giving them the opportunity to engage with the experience through all five senses.

Sensory play like this encourages curiosity, creativity and fine motor development, while giving babies the freedom to explore at their own pace.

Sometimes the simplest activities create the biggest discoveries! πŸ₯₯πŸ’›

πŸŒ³πŸƒ Little explorers at Forest School! πŸƒπŸŒ³

Our children have been making the most of our Forest School experiences, getting outdoors and discovering the natural world through hands-on exploration.

From investigating natural materials to getting stuck into outdoor activities, Forest School gives children the freedom to follow their curiosity, take on new challenges and learn through real experiences.

These sessions support the EYFS by developing physical development, understanding the World, communication and language and personal, social and emotional development, while encouraging confidence, independence and a love of nature.

There is always something new to discover when you're a Little Cedars explorer! πŸŒΏπŸ’š

πŸŽ“πŸŒΏ Celebrating our Little Cedars school leavers! πŸŒΏπŸŽ“

Last month, we came together for a very special Preschool Graduation and Garden Party to celebrate our wonderful school leavers and all they have achieved during their time at Little Cedars.

It was a day filled with smiles, laughter, memories and a few emotional moments as we said goodbye to our preschoolers and wished them every success as they begin their next big adventure at primary school. πŸ’š

We are incredibly proud of how much each child has grown in confidence, independence and curiosity. Watching them develop, make friendships and discover their own interests has been such a privilege.

To all our Little Cedars graduates, we'll miss you, but we know you're ready to learn, grow and shine at school! πŸŒŸπŸŽ“

πŸŒžπŸŒ‘ Look Up! The Solar Eclipse Is Coming πŸŒ‘πŸŒž

Today, a spectacular partial solar eclipse will be visible across the UK. It’s a fantastic opportunity to introduce children to the wonders of space and talk about the Sun, Moon and Earth! 🌍✨

If you're planning to watch the eclipse together as a family, please remember that looking directly at the Sun can cause serious and permanent eye damage, even during an eclipse.

πŸ‘€ How to watch safely:
β˜€οΈ Never look directly at the Sun without appropriate solar protection.
πŸ•ΆοΈ If using eclipse glasses, make sure they are specifically designed for solar viewing and meet the ISO 12312-2 safety standard. Regular sunglasses are not safe.
πŸ” Never look at the Sun through ordinary binoculars or a telescope without a proper solar filter.
πŸ“„ A pinhole projector is another safe way for children to experience the eclipse without looking directly at the Sun.
πŸ“Ί Alternatively, watch a live stream together, such as the Royal Observatory Greenwich's eclipse broadcast.

Why not turn it into a learning opportunity? Talk to your little ones about what an eclipse is, draw pictures of the Sun and Moon, or make your own simple pinhole projector together!
Let's enjoy this incredible natural phenomenon safely and make some magical memories along the way. πŸŒ™βœ¨

πŸ‘ΆπŸ’™ Dummy Use in Babies, What Parents Need to Know πŸ’™πŸ‘Ά

Dummies can be a helpful source of comfort for many babies, supporting self-soothing and helping some little ones settle more easily during sleep and times of distress.

As children grow, it's important to be mindful of how and when dummies are used. Limiting dummy use during play, social interactions, and communication-rich activities can help support speech, language, and social development, as babies learn through listening, babbling, copying sounds, and interacting with those around them.

Every child is different, and families will make the decision that works best for them. Our informative post shares some helpful guidance on the benefits of dummy use, when to consider reducing use, and how to support your child's development along the way.

✨ Save this post for future reference and share it with other parents who may find it useful.
