"Kuweni: Her Legacy, Our Struggle" is a contemporary dance production that interlaces the ancient legend of Kuweni, a powerful sorceress from Sri Lankan folklore, with the vibrant pulse of modern feminist movements. This performance seeks to draw parallels between Kuweni's trials and triumphs and the ongoing journey for women's rights and empowerment across the globe.
Production Director Note-

I am Sithumini Amarasingha, an MA Public Art & Performance student at London Metropolitan University. As a Sri Lankan traditional dance artist, I specialize in working with contemporary ideas on feminism, cultural engagement, and gender disparity. My experience spans international dance productions in the USA, Germany, and Italy.

This production serves as my final exam project at London Metropolitan University and includes planned dance shows in London and potentially across the globe.
