We had a lovely time making rockets and explore the space using flap books and pictures. We also learnt to count back and forth 1-10 during the past weeks.
Children enjoyed experimenting with foil and kitchen rolls to make their own rockets. They especially loved the “fire” coming out from the end of the rockets.
We also made stars- eldest child cut them out using safety scissors-, end named the planets 🪐 in our solar system.
We also built our own space stations using Duplo blocks that children “have sent to the space” using their imagination.
Childers learnt that astronauts need extra oxygen to breathe in scape so they wear a backpack to carry it.
We talked about flying saucers and aliens 👽 too. 😃 we also experimented with the colour black while painted the space background.

Last week we had a “bear” week. We went to West Norwood picture house and watched a short movie about the “hungry bears”. This movie inspired us to make a brown bear art when we arrived back home. The children used paper plate, painted hay, googly eyes, Pom- poms, brown and black paint and coloured paper cut outs. Children could choose from colours of Pom-poms to use for the nose of the bear, they coloured their own hey and used glue to stick all the pieces together creating an amazing art work!
We then made a cave like den while reading the “going for a bear hunt” story in the cave.
We really enjoyed this theme, so we will choose another book for next week for another theme to carry on our role plays and learning about the world.

World book day went well, all children liked the story we chose. Also on our local walk we have seen brick walls and a den built in the woods. It was so exciting 😄 we also learnt how to huff and puff 💨 😆
