Women play football

I loved football & was lucky that my primary encouraged all students to play

Even at secondary there was a girls team BUT it was inside football which is not the same
😩
Plus other schools didn’t support girls playing so there was never a team to play against
😢
Things are eventually improving
☺️
But we still live in a time of inequality

Take the wins, be an inspiration & fight the fight for all little girls & women

I’m Leanne, my dream was to be a teacher (and a mummy)

After 11 years, teaching turned toxic & horrid. A very sad state of affairs, I still love helping, but I don’t think many secondary schools are built to help people

So, after completing my other dream of being a mummy to 3, I left a job I did not want to model to my children and created my own

First was exam strategy, mainly for History but then Covid banned exams

Then (and now lol) I work on supporting students to get their dream

Calling all Year 12s, 16/17 year olds, mature students & overseas students: It’s time for the uni 2023 intake to start thinking about their UCAS application!!!

As a uni 2023 prospective student, what do you need to know?

You can now sign up to UCAS and on May 17th start inputting your information including your Personal Statement.

This means that you have to really confirm in your head a few things:

Is uni for you?
Which course?
Which uni?
How can I ace my UCAS application?

In terms of ‘is uni for you’, it’s really important that you know that going to uni in 2023 isn’t the only option; there are plenty of choices ranging from uni, entering the workforce and apprenticeships.

I will cover more on each of these choices in future blogs.

When considering which course to study at uni, you really need to ask yourself, where do you want to end up? And I don’t mean simply in 2023, but beyond. What is the end goal? You want to find the best course that will get you to where you see yourself.

GO TO UNI WITH A PURPOSE: to achieve what you NEED, to get to where you want to be!

Mine: posted on LinkedIn, actually tried to connect on LinkedIn, planned GCSE History tuition, did the tutoring, gave essay support / advice / guidance, connected with others, read up on policies & work I need to do for a contract lined up

Also: sorted my little girl’s party invites, rang about 5 different people to try & get my car sorted, booked tickets to see my big girls perform at the West End (they are not in a west end show, it’s part of their drama club), took the big girls to song club & emailed my girls school

Today I ran a workshop on Deciding If Uni Is For You

The students that turned up were actually younger, but that’s ok, I just switched it to considering options & then developing that into whether uni would be part of their path

For some the answer is obvious, you need uni to get to where you want to be, there is no other route
👩‍🎓
For others, you do have a choice: direct to workforce, work for yourself, apprenticeship, degree apprenticeship or degree

My whole remit, is to help you get to where you want to be

It drives me mad that 70% of people don’t enjoy their job (ONS)

If I can play a part in helping more people go to uni (or other route) with a clear idea of their end goal

And end up with a career that they actually enjoy, with a lifestyle to match (e.g. not overworked)
