A Plan B is not about failure, it's about options

Here are 5 powerful steps to start creating yours:

✨ 1. Accept you probably need one
The world is changing, pretending otherwise does not help

✨ 2. Take a balcony view
Zoom out and look at what is happening around you

✨ 3. Take a dip in “Lake You”
What genuinely brings you joy, energy, and meaning?

✨ 4. Have more conversations and listen
Get curious about the problems people need solving

✨ 5. Percolate and process
Plan Bs rarely arrive fully formed, they evolve over time

The people adapting best right now are not always the people with certainty.

They are the people willing to evolve.

💬 Which of these 5 steps do you most need right now?

Clients bring me in when it matters most.

When things feel stuck.
When dynamics are complex.
When real conversations need to happen.

This is not surface level work.
This is where real change happens.

If your team is ready for that shift, let’s talk.

The problem is not you, it’s the marketplace.
So many talented, experienced, hardworking people are:
👉 Exhausted
👉 Burning out
👉 Taking rejection personally
👉 Wondering why what used to work no longer works

But industries are changing.
Buying behaviour is changing.
Budgets are tighter.
Decision-making is slower.

And forcing the old model harder is not always the answer.

💡 Career confidence today is not about endlessly proving yourself, it’s about adaptability.

The people surviving and thriving right now are often the people willing to:
✨ Pivot
✨ Reposition
✨ Rethink
✨ Repackage what they do

Not because they failed, but because they evolved.

The question is no longer:
❌ “Why don’t they want me?”

The better question is:
👉 “Where else could my skills create value?”

That question changes everything.

💬 Have you noticed the marketplace changing in your industry too?

Think like a dinosaur.
Sounds strange? Stay with me...

In this clip from Fast Track to Fearless, Tracy Forsyth shares an unexpected lesson from Jurassic Park's velociraptors. They didn't succeed on the first attempt. Or the second. They kept learning, adapting, and trying new approaches until they got the result they wanted.

💡 The lesson? If you're hungry for something in your career or life, don't give up when one approach doesn't work.

Pivot.
Learn.
Adapt.
Keep going.

Because success often belongs to those who are willing to try again—just a little differently.

Leadership feels heavy right now.

Too much change.
Too much pressure.
Too much to hold.

And the old way of leading does not work anymore.

Leaders need new tools.
New thinking.
New support.

What if the biggest thing holding you back is not seeing your own potential?

In this clip from Fast Track to Fearless, Tracy Forsyth explains why a coach is like a personal trainer for your career. A great coach helps you assess where you are, identify where you want to go, and provides the support, challenge, and encouragement to help you get there.

Sometimes, we can't see our own strengths clearly. That's where a coach can make all the difference, helping you recognise opportunities, build confidence, and unlock potential you didn't know you had.

Leadership is not revealed when everything is easy. It is revealed when things feel uncomfortable, uncertain, or difficult

When:
👉 Something needs saying
👉 A decision needs making
👉 The room is drifting
👉 Nobody wants to go first

That is where leadership actually shows up.

Some of the most effective leaders are not the loudest people in the room.
They are the people with:
✨ Courageous authenticity
✨ Integrity
✨ The willingness to create clarity when there is none yet

They speak when it would be easier to stay quiet.
They bring up what others avoid.
They create movement instead of waiting for consensus.

Because when leadership is absent, other things quickly take over:
hesitation, politics, fear, and lowest common denominator thinking.

💡 Leadership is not about having all the answers.
It is about how you show up when things are not easy.

💬 What leadership quality matters most to you in difficult moments?

A nice team is not always an effective team.

- Conversations get avoided.
- Standards slip.
- Issues stay under the surface.

Real trust is built on clarity and accountability.
That is where performance comes from.

Last month I wrapped the third Women in Film and Television UK Fearless Leadership Programme. The team that make it happen, pictured here - Jenny Clark, Katie Bailiff, Rachel Williams, Claudia Merhej - got together to go over the participant feedback and we were so proud.

This year's cohort described the programme as:
• "Life changing"
• "Mind opening"
• "Deeply inspiring and incredibly practical"
• A place where they learned to "lead fearlessly and authentically"

Across the cohort, women reported increased confidence, stronger leadership capability, greater self-awareness, practical tools for navigating complex challenges and, perhaps most importantly, a powerful network of peers they can continue to lean on long after the programme ends.

One theme came through again and again:

Leadership can be lonely. It doesn't have to be.

The friendships, trust, vulnerability and support created within this cohort were mentioned in almost every piece of feedback.

I'm especially proud that participants left not only with frameworks and tools, but with a stronger belief in themselves and the value of their voice.

As one participant put it:
"It has honestly changed the way I feel about myself."

What a privilege it is to do this work.

I'm delighted to say we will be back for a 4th time, details to be revealed later in the year.

If you're a senior woman leader in the screen industries who wants to lead with greater confidence, impact and authenticity, we'd love to hear from you.

Thank you so much to Sunbelt Rentals, Inc. for sponsoring us, we so appreciate it. And to the wonderful cohorts over the last three years - be fearlessly you!

I was in a coaching session a while ago with a very talented client who suddenly went very quiet after we’d talked something through. I could see she was writing something down. “What have you written?”, I asked. And it was this. A note to herself on what to do.

“Speak up. Take charge. Get the credit.”

Well, I blooming loved it. What a powerful mantra! And one I think will appeal to so many others.

So, with the client's permission, I am posting it here. Please share if it resonates with you. And if you feel it will empower others, please pass it along.
