The first things you should do once you arrive in the UK contd

5..Register for your National Insurance Number. Your National insurance number is vital because most employers require you to give them the number before they can employ you. Fortunately these days it doesn't take time, all you need to do is go to their website and register. It is your identity and is unique to you.

6..Find your village people🤣🤣🤣 so as funny as this sounds, it's really important you try and find people from your state. Join your state's association and go to their meetings. You may not go all the time but identifying with your people is really important.

If you are New to the Uk, There are things you need to do immediately you come in. The earlier you start off with these things, The easier it will be for you to adjust and get used to how things work here. So i am going to write the few important things you need to do Once you arrive in the Uk.

1.. Pick up your BRP (Biometric Resident permit) If you came in as a student with dependents, your BRP will be ready within 3 weeks of your arrival or less and you will ne notified by your university's Home office to either pick it up in person or they will mail it to you.

2...If you came in with kids, register them in a school through your City Council. If your City Council is wasting time placing your kids on school, You can walk to the school you want your kids to enroll in and tell them directly that you want to register your kids. The school will register them and then Inform the City council about your kid's or Children's admission so even If you've filled a form for them, Don't worry about it, It won't affect them if yoi want to register them directly in a particular school.

3.. register your entire family in a GP. A GP( General Practice) or Surgery as it's called here, Is the first place you visit whenever you are unwell. You dont just go to the hospital unless it's an emergency. Every post code and Area has a GP surgery therefore it will not be difficult for you to locate one. Just go on google and type in " GP surgery near me" and you will see it. You do not need to pay, registration is absolutely free and doesn't take more than one week. So that once you feel sick, you just CALL your GP and book an appointment or they can do a phone call consultation depending on the severity of the illness.

4..Create a bank Account..

You can create a student account if you are a student. Your spouse can also create an account but sometimes they require you to provide a 3 years proof of address. If you do not have this yet and you have your BRP, you can Create a bank account with MONZO. Monzo is an online bank which operates just like the physical banks, the only difference is that it's online and it takes Just 5minutes for you to create a bank account with MONZO.
Your bank card and pin will be posted to you withing 7 working days and you will have a working bank account that is recognized everywhere in the UK. When you jave all the requirements for the physical banks like Barclays, Santander, HSBC etc you can now go and open and account with them..
