🍕✨ Did you join us for our recent Pizza & Pop Recruitment Night? ✨🥤

We had such a lovely evening welcoming potential new team members into the nursery, giving everyone the chance to meet, chat and get a real feel for what being part of our team is all about.

We prepared some little welcome gifts for our future employees and spent the evening getting to know one another through a mixture of fun team-building games, conversations and plenty of pizza! 💙

For us, recruitment is about so much more than filling a vacancy — it’s about finding people who share our passion for creating a positive, supportive and engaging environment for both children and colleagues.

🍊 Fruit Kebab Making! 🍈⭐

Our little chefs have been busy exploring fruit in a fun, hands-on way — using cutters, choosing their favourite pieces and carefully creating their very own fruit kebabs!

Cooking and food preparation activities offer so many valuable learning opportunities for young children. They help to develop fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination, build independence and confidence, introduce early maths concepts such as counting, size and shape, and encourage children to explore new tastes, textures and healthy foods.

These experiences also create wonderful opportunities for communication, turn-taking, problem-solving and following simple instructions — all while giving children a real sense of achievement when they enjoy something they have helped to make themselves. 💚

Our Discoverers have been busy making their very own healthy fruit smoothies!

The children practised their cutting and fine motor skills as they carefully prepared the fruit, while talking together about healthy eating, different fruits and the importance of making nutritious choices. 🌱

A lovely hands-on experience supporting independence, coordination, communication and an understanding of healthy lifestyles — with a delicious smoothie to enjoy at the end! 💚🥤

A huge thank you to all of our families who voted for September’s focus!

This month, we’ll be developing our outdoor provision, with a focus on creating more purposeful opportunities for children to explore, investigate, problem-solve, create and learn outdoors. 🌱✨

We’ll be looking closely at the quality of our activities, resources, adult interactions and outdoor environments, and we’re excited to share our progress with you throughout the month.

We’re also always open to suggestions for future focus areas — our next voting station will be coming soon! 💜

Our outdoor learning has been getting wonderfully messy as the children explored our Nature Kitchen! 🥄✨
Using leaves, sticks, natural materials, colourful loose parts, pots, pans, spoons and tongs, the children were able to scoop, mix, collect, transfer and create their very own imaginative “recipes”. 👩‍🍳🧑‍🍳
Experiences like this are about so much more than messy play. Through their exploration, the children were developing:

🌱 Fine motor skills through grasping, scooping and using utensils
🌱 Hand-eye coordination while transferring and mixing materials
🌱 Communication and language as they shared ideas and talked about their creations
🌱 Imagination and creativity through open-ended role play
🌱 Problem-solving skills as they experimented with different tools and materials
🌱 Understanding of the natural world by exploring leaves, twigs and other natural treasures
🌱 Social skills through playing alongside one another, sharing resources and developing ideas together

We love creating outdoor experiences where children can investigate freely, follow their curiosity and turn the simplest natural resources into meaningful learning opportunities. 💚

🌿💚 DONATIONS WANTED – CAN YOU HELP US? 💚🌿

As part of our continued focus on enhancing our outdoor learning provision, we are looking for families who may have unwanted items at home that we can safely repurpose and give a new life within our nursery garden. 🌳✨

We would be incredibly grateful for donations such as untreated wood offcuts, old tyres, kitchen utensils, artificial grass, guttering or pipes, crates, buckets, watering cans, logs, baskets, large pebbles, rope, netting and child-safe gardening equipment.

These kinds of open-ended resources can create endless opportunities for our children to build, balance, investigate, create, problem-solve, role play and connect with the natural world. 🪵🪴🛞

We are especially keen to make use of recycled, reused and donated materials wherever possible, helping us to develop exciting outdoor spaces while also encouraging a more sustainable approach to our provision. ♻️🌱

If you have anything you think may be suitable, please speak to a member of the nursery team before bringing it in so we can check that it is safe and appropriate for use.

Every donation, big or small, can help us create something special for our little explorers. 💙💚

🌿💚 Forest School for Every Age! 🍃✨

At Monkey Puzzle Hither Green, our Forest School experiences are thoughtfully adapted so that children of all ages can benefit from outdoor learning — including our very smallest explorers. 🌱
For our Under 2s, this might look like discovering different natural textures, collecting leaves and pinecones, exploring water and mud, investigating with simple tools, caring for plants and enjoying plenty of opportunities to move, play and explore in the fresh air. 🍂🪵💧
These early experiences help to nurture curiosity, confidence, physical development and a growing love and respect for nature, while giving our youngest children the freedom to learn through their senses and follow their own interests.
We are so proud to offer Forest School opportunities across the nursery and to begin building that special connection with the natural world from the very start. 🌳💜

We are so excited to share another update to our Inventors Book Corner — now transformed into a wonderful Reading Jungle! 🐒📖✨

As part of our continued focus on strengthening our books, reading and literacy provision, the team have been working hard to create a cosy, inviting and imaginative space where children can enjoy quieter reading moments, explore stories and develop a growing love of books each day. 💚

Our Reading Jungle helps to bring stories to life, spark curiosity and encourage plenty of conversation, imagination and discovery. From sharing favourite stories together to independently exploring books, this special space is designed to help make reading even more exciting and meaningful for our children. 🌿📚

We are so proud to see our reading provision continuing to grow across the nursery, with each classroom creating spaces that reflect the children’s interests and support their love of learning. ✨

📚💜 YOU SAID… WE LISTENED! 💙✨

We’re excited to share another update as we continue strengthening our books, reading and literacy provision across the nursery — this time from our wonderful Explorers Classroom! 🌟

The team have been developing their Reading Garden, creating a calm, cosy and inviting space where our little Explorers can choose books independently, snuggle up with their Key Practitioners, share stories with friends and enjoy quieter moments throughout their busy day. 📖🌿

At this age, sharing books is about so much more than reading the words. Through stories, children are building their communication and language, imagination, concentration, vocabulary and confidence, while beginning to discover the simple joy of choosing a favourite book again and again. 💫

We have also made our books more accessible and inviting, with a varied selection available for children to explore alongside our Book of the Month. 📚

💙 Thank you to our families for continuing to share your thoughts and feedback with us. Your voices are helping us reflect on and develop meaningful spaces and experiences for our children across the nursery.
