Gentle Learning Support

One of the key aspects of Gentle Learning Support is supporting parents. My students often have additional needs, which means the parents have sought support in many places before finding GLS.

I, too, am that parent who was dealing with a multitude of health and education services and trying to communicate with agencies to get the proper support for my child.

Having been through that system, I am determined to help parents find the proper support for their child.

Our Summer Workshops: Week 2 - 10th–13th August | Time: 9:50am – 3:10pm

Each day of week 2 will have a different focus:

• Monday - What is Autism? A workshop about how autistic people experience the world, connected to the child’s own experiences and with practical strategies.
• Tuesday - What is ADHD? A workshop about executive functioning related to real-life experiences of the participant, and with practical neuroaffirming strategies.
• Wednesday - Emotional Regulation for Learning (ERfL) A workshop to support your child in how they connect with their learning. This workshop will teach them what is happening for them when they find learning challenging and will support them with practical strategies they can take away and use in the classroom and beyond.
• Thursday - Science Club A crime has taken place. Jeremiah’s treasure has been stolen, and it is up to us to follow the clues to find the culprit. Help us decipher clues, including fingerprint analysis, chromatography, footprint casting, and forensic graphology.
• Lego for Learning is available at the end of each day, as an added extra for those attending the workshops, or to book separately for only

This week is designed as individual themed days, and each day can be booked separately. Parents may choose specific days that would benefit their child, and can accompany their child on Monday and Tuesday, and Wednesday afternoon, for a small additional fee.

Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday workshops are only £100 per child, with the science club being £132. A 20% sibling discount is available.

Week 1 will focus on strengthening core literacy and numeracy skills. Sessions will be delivered in a workshop-style flow, with a variety of structured activities each day.

The programme includes the following activities, which can be booked separately at the price below.

• Touch Typing (TTRS) - £50.00
• SNIP Spelling - £40.00
• Maths (Times Tables Practice and active memory work) - £50.00
• Handwriting - £30.00
• Group Reading Activities - £50.00
• Lego for Learning - £50.00
• Word Shark - £50.00

Each day offers a variety of skill-building activities, and learning will progress throughout the week. For this reason, we strongly encourage pupils to attend the full week to gain maximum benefit. The cost for the whole week is only £300, saving more than £90 compared to individual sessions. Plus, there is a 20% sibling discount.

At Gentle Learning, we strive to work closely with schools for the benefit of children, families, and staff. Schools are central to the SEND crisis, often lacking the resources to meet demand.

We have developed several ways to support schools cost-effectively. As a teacher with nearly 30 years of experience in schools, and as a parent of a child with additional needs, I am well placed to offer support to schools that does not contribute to the workload of overstretched teachers, but instead complements their daily practice.
