Farmyard Adventures: Bringing Real Experiences to the Classroom

Today, we invited the baby room to a mini farm tuff tray as students explored a farm-themed tuff tray. Inspired by their summer trips to local farms, children interacted with natural materials and toy animals, reliving and sharing their experiences. This hands-on sensory play not only sparked curiosity but also deepened their connection to the world around them.

Through this activity, children benefited from:
• Enhanced sensory skills using authentic materials
• Boosted creativity and imaginative play
• Expanded language as they recounted their farm visits
• Improved social skills through collaborative fun

☀️ Summer Bank Holiday at Happy Orkids ☀️

As the summer holidays draw to a close, we're making the most of the last bit of sunshine with a proper celebration on Monday 31st August!

The children will be tucking into a lovely picnic, getting stuck into outdoor games, and simply enjoying some good old-fashioned family time together. There's nothing quite like fresh air, giggles, and a few sandwiches on the grass to send summer off in style.

We can't wait to see everyone there, making memories and soaking up these last golden days before autumn creeps in.

September is full of new beginnings 🍂

We have lots of exciting learning experiences planned for September, with plenty of opportunities for the children to explore new ideas, celebrate different traditions and develop their understanding of the world around them.

📚 7th September | Back to School
We’ll be supporting children as they settle into routines and enjoy activities designed to help them feel comfortable, confident and ready for the new term.

🍎 12th September | Rosh Hashanah
We’ll explore the Jewish New Year through apple and honey crafts, stories and conversations about new beginnings.

🤍 20th September | Yom Kippur

Through age appropriate activities, we’ll explore themes of reflection, forgiveness, kindness and making peace with others.

🌍 21st September | International Day of Peace
The children will discover more about kindness, sharing, friendship and positive ways to resolve little disagreements.

🌿 26th September | Sukkot
We’ll learn about the Jewish festival of Sukkot through stories, creative activities and conversations about traditions, togetherness and appreciation.

It’s going to be a wonderful month of learning, celebrating and growing together! 🌱

Little hands, big imaginations! 🌸

Today, our Happy Orkids children got creative with pom poms and paint as they explored colour, texture and pattern through some beautiful flower printing.

Using pom poms to create their flower designs gave the children the chance to get hands on with their creativity while developing their fine motor skills and enjoying the process of creating something of their very own. 🌼

We love seeing where their imaginations take them!
