🌟A little tip to help calm a crying baby who is finding it hard to settle themselves.
👶🏼Babies find it very difficult to hold more than 3 thoughts in their head at one time
👶🏼To help them forget about the crying we want to use three different actions
👶🏼First we rock or sway in babies favourite position
👶🏼We then add patting either on their back or bottom
👶🏼 Lastly we add shushing or a portable white noise machine
👶🏼Of course this may not work for a babv who is in pain or sick but I've used this trick many times throughout my career and it's worked almost every time :)

Some ideas of how to avoid that early wake up on Sunday morning when the clocks move forward. ⏰
Remember the importance of a dark room whilst a baby is sleeping. It’s a great idea to invest in black out blinds to help babies sleep until their usual wake time. 💤
⭐️ This is a beautiful example of a baby in active sleep.
⭐️ Often parents will ask me how to settle their baby whilst they’re eyes are shut. My answer would be to leave them, they’re most likely sleeping.
⭐️ The baby you see in this video is in her REM sleep which stands for rapid eye movement. This is a light stage of a sleep cycle and you can easily be woken. Most dreams occur in this stage and the breathing, heart rate, blood pressure and brain activity increases.
⭐️After REM sleep you fall into a deeper stage where the babies body will fall limp and you could easily transition them without waking.
⭐️ Enjoy your babies REM sleep, it can sometimes be very cute and entertaining.

Baby pre sleep routine is often a game changer when it comes to settling and how easily baby will settle.
🌟 A predictable set of activities is calming and gives your baby non verbal sleep cues. This helps them to realise “it’s time for me to sleep now” helping them to self-settle.

I just wanted to put a face to the name and reach out to any parents/carers/nannies who
might be struggling with day time naps or night time sleep. I have 16 volunteer client spaces for ages 3 weeks- 3 years and will be starting in the next 3-4 weeks.
Meanwhile whilst I continue to study , I will use this page to share great facts and information I’m learning along the way.
