We're on a mission. Can you help?

This year, Equal Measures UK is partnering with The Drinks Trust to raise money to support our ongoing work to deliver greater equity in the drinks industry. We’re currently seeking lots to be donated to the cause, so that they can be auctioned off and raise much-needed funds for Equal Measures.

We’re looking for:

- Bottles with a retail value over £100
- Limited edition & rare releases
- Cases of six with a retail value over £250
- Casks
- Experiences with a retail value over £300

Still processing how incredible last night's Community Day was. We had the incredible Adam Purnell - Shropshire Lad on the coals, cooking up an absolute storm, with dishes paired perfectly with insanely delicious Johnnie Walker cocktails by our very own Michael Yishak. The food and drinks were sensational and truly showed off not only the skills of the creators and wonderful ingredients but also the amazing versatility of Johnnie Walker!

Our greatest takeaway however was how utterly wonderful our Equal Measures Community is. Every single person who attended embodied true hospitality. The room was filled with warmth, kindness, generosity, and care. New friends were made and many a laugh shared. People helped clear tables, serve drinks, and generally took it upon themselves to ensure that their community was having a wonderful time. It was beyond heart-warming to experience and we’re so happy and proud to have you in the family.

The Equal Measures Community Days are a series of events created with the intent of creating a social hub for Equal Measures UK, and of fostering collaboration and unity within the drinks industry. The first event will take place on Monday 21st March from 12-4pm at Deano Moncrieffe's Hacha Bar in Brixton.

Racism and Homophobia and how both communities need to support each other : Anti Racist Cumbria

What a brilliant article from Chimwemwe Chirwa, who highlights the importance of collaboration between the LGBTQIA community and People of the Global Majority in overcoming inequality, a key tenet of Equal Measures UK, and entirely the spirit that brought Equal Measure's founder Deano Moncrieffe Agave Spirits and Hannah Lanfear together in their work.

It's a great introduction to the term People of the Global Majority (- which let's not forget includes LGBTQ+ persons too!), if you haven't heard it before, and a reminder that though often marginalised, 'people of colour' are not a minority. "What makes Equal Measures different and noteworthy is that it has recognised that discrimination exists in our industry and knows that this won’t be changed by simply adopting a hashtag or telling companies that they should probably think about diversifying their hiring practices. Barriers are sadly not broken that easily. Equal Measures understands this and has created a project that empowers individuals, giving us the opportunity to access qualifications, education, and valuable contacts that otherwise might be out of our reach.

Most POC have been taught since birth that we need to do 10 times better than our white counterparts in order to even be considered for a percentage of the opportunities they are gifted. By providing us with mentorships, access to WSET courses, and opportunities to get our personal licences, Equal Measures has presented us with tools that we can take up to chisel away at the barriers we meet.
