*Update*
From today (4th March) students from red list countries can quarantine at school rather than in hotels. As yet, this only applies to schools in England, and only to those schools who are able to meet the additional travel and quarantine requirements for boarders from red list countries.

The Department for Education confirmed last night that boarders can return to the UK early to quarantine before school starts on 8 March.
Arrangements for quarantine should be in place before they travel and these arrangements must be in accordance with the arrangements for red list and non red list countries.
Pupils from red list countries (https://www.gov.uk/guidance/transport-measures-to-protect-the-uk-from-variant-strains-of-covid-19 -bans-to-the-uk---banned-countries) are not yet permitted to return to school, unless they have a right to reside, in which case they would need to quarantine in a Government hotel, but all other international students are permitted to quarantine in boarding.

For anyone who hasn't heard this already:
We're expecting an announcement from the government on Monday 22nd February detailing arrangements for the reopening of schools on Monday 8th March. It's possible that the reopening will be staggered i.e. not all year groups at the same time.

Following media reports that international arrivals to the UK may need to quarantine in hotels, the Home Office has confirmed to the Boarding Schools' Association that:
"if they [boarders] are able to self-isolate in their boarding quarters, then they would not require a hotel."
