📚Reluctant Readers 📚
Here are some ideas to help inspire those reluctant readers to pick up a book. Reading is such an important life skill as we need to be able to read in so many contexts. However, this skill doesn’t always come naturally to some so we have to think outside the box to get the engagement. At the end of each Key Stage (Year 2 and Year 6) children will be tested on their reading ability and comprehension skills as part of their SAT’s tests.
📖 Phoenix Comics: ( )
A weekly comic for children aged 7 years +. The stories are thrilling and action packed as well as funny to make children want to read them for hours on end.

A weekly newspaper aimed at children aged 7 years +. It provides children with up - to - date current affairs around the world but in a child - friendly version.

📖 The Week Junior: ( )
A weekly magizine aimed at children aged 8 - 14 years old. It explains the news in an unbiased age appropriate way as well as encouraging children to explore, read and learn.

📖 Audible: ( )
Audible (from Amazon) allows children to listen to stories being read to them. This helps to take the stress out of reading the words and instead, relax and have the stories come to life.

📖 Oxford Owl: ( )
Parents can sign up to this website where there are a limited amount of free ebooks that can be accessed. There are also a limited amount of the red, write, inc / Oxford reading scheme books that most schools use.
