Let's celebrate day!
Take a look at the fantastic milkshakes our Year 2 students made! Cooking is a great way to introduce new concepts and skills to children and we think pur Year 2 class has done a fabulous job!
Our Year 3 and 4 students thoroughly enjoyed exploring Moat Mount Centre and all the fun activities that it has to offer!
Some snapshots of our Year 1 and 2 children at Moat Mount Centre where they enjoyed an array of fun outdoorsy activities with their friends!
Our Peace Garden is always a popular hangout spot during break and lunch times and apparently not just among our students! An entire colony of snails seems to have moved into the vibrant habitat!

This week our students got into the spirit of anything and everything technology-related; they made PowerPoints, did research, and even coded their own websites! Each class participated in a fun array of activities which allowed them to tinker with different skills - both which were familiar and unfamiliar to them! We've got some snapshots of our assemblies where students were encouraged to share their projects with the school, as well as some of their work too!
Our new playground activities are certainly being enjoyed by all! We've got basketball, ping pong, hop scotch, arts and crafts and so much more!
Our Year 3 students came up with some fantastically delicious (and extremely healthy) menus! And we think they've done a great job!
We love our P.E. lessons here at BHA!!
Our Year 2 students loved exploring Welsh Harp where they took part in pond dipping, as well as trekking on a minibeast adventure in the woods!
the highlight of this week was definitely today's Eid party; it was a pleasure to see all students dressed in their Eid finery, and the afternoon was filled with games, nasheeds and delicious snacks! Feel free to enjoy the selection of photos starring many happy faces from today, and check out our website for a more thorough gallery update!
Save the date for May 25th, because that's when our student body from Years 1-6 will be performing at ArtsDepot theatre; we've got an exciting extravaganza lined up for you for the afternoon, ranging from a multitude of nasheed performances, to an exciting play titled 'When the Clock Strikes Eid' and the official launch of our new BHA anthem, which our students have had the pleasure of creating alongside HalalBeats (a digital media company specializing in Islamic vocals).
So book your tickets now, and we hope to see you soon!
Our students loved browsing through the picks this week!
Thank you to everyone who contributed towards our fundraiser where we raised a total of £680!!
Thank you to for visiting our school and delivering amazing science workshops for all our students!
Thank you to for delivering a fantastic road safety workshop called 'Getting There' for our Year 5 and 6 students!
Hats off to all of our students for putting on such talented performances for Adam and the Chocolate Factory, our teachers for their stellar effort in directing and rehearsing, our community for contributing towards props and costumes, our esteemed guests such as and for attending and for writing the script!
Barnet Hill Academy EYFS classes have been looking at the importance of road safety - from zebra crossings and traffic lights, to learning all about how to cross the road safely, our youngest students have become pioneers of safe travelling. In addition to road safety, we’ve also been inspecting different modes of travel and our Reception class was thrilled to visit a train station this week. We watched trains trundle past, received an in-depth tour by the Station Master and even learned the fascinating process behind printing tickets and tapping Oyster cards.
Monday morning smiles at the snowy school gates today. Barnet Hill Academy students excited and still raring to go! Applications still open for state funded reception places for September 2023 at UK’s 8th Voluntary Aided Islamic Primary School.

When it comes to respect, it's often reiterated how elders should always be treated kindly, but what's also important is behaving nicely with our juniors too!
Last week's theme explored the importance of treating those who are younger than us with an equal amount of respect, and in particular we looked at the hadith in which the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ is reported to have said:
"Whoever does not respect our elders, is not compassionate to our youth, and does not give our scholars due honour, he is not one of us."
(Ahmad and Hakim)
There’s an abundance of knowledge to be learned at the RAF (Royal Air Force Museum), and a wealth of historical artefacts, clothing and more! Year 2 Barnet Hill Academy students dived into the history of Hendon rooted into the local landscape, and consulted maps, images, written sources and artefacts to investigate the impact that aviation companies had on the development of Hendon.
A Fun Fact:
Did you know that Colindale was actually known as Colin Dale, as it was initially fields which were then later used for an aerodrome!
Rockets are some of the most fascinating technological machinery to exist, and Year 5 Barnet Hill Academy students experimented with making their own rockets, using a variety of different materials such as foil, cardboard and more! Activities like this only enhance our students’ ability to ‘think outside the box’ as well as ingrain the importance of collaboration with their peers!
Did you know that there are three different types of rock, igneous, sedimentary and metamorphic? We didn’t either! But Barnet Hill Academy’s Year 3 students have dived into geological investigations this week and as part of their learning, have also painted some fantastic designs onto pebbles of their own! It also helps that they’ve been reading ‘The Pebble in my Pocket’, a scientific adventure that takes readers around the globe, which further links together their different areas of learning.

L is for Learning
We have a volunteer’s reading scheme run by an army of parent volunteers which gives children one-on-one reading attention and where they are able to explore their feelings, thoughts and ideas on their books! Enquiry based learning is also key at our school, so whether our students are investigating parachute drops, the distances of celestial objects or mini beasts, they are doing so with their whole selves and their thinking hats firmly on! WOW moments are an everyday occurrence at Barnet Hill Academy.

The L in Barnet Hill academy will tell you about our Loving and safe environment -
As a school, we know we are ambassadors of Islam for our children too. Like Brother Yossouf our seemingly stoic caretaker, who always has the best dad jokes up his sleeve to keep the pupils entertained. “I love my job, in particular the mornings. I enjoy watching the children walk through the school gates with their big school bags and even bigger smiles!”

We teach our children the importance of that sense of Islamic responsibility in our care for each other in both theory and practice - our school-fundraised allotment means children can practice those green-fingered skills that require so much patience, understanding and faith. As part of our holistic approach to learning and development, children plant and manage the allotments, and the nutritious produce is used by them too! This is all part of the healthy choices we promote at our junk free school - including taking part in sometimes national health and fitness initiatives including our Junior Travel Ambassadors, Fizz Free Feb and Bikeability.
