LEARNING ABOUT BODY PARTS:

Teaching our children about their body parts is a great way to increase their vocabulary and allows them to express personal feelings and needs.

As they grow up they start to recognize that they can run, play, laugh and sing, they also become more curious about their bodies. At this stage, it becomes necessary to teach them about their body parts. Learning about the function of each part of their body, also helps them to gain coordination and motor skills.

COOKING JOLLOF RICE:

One of the meals the children cooked to commemorate Black history month is Jollof rice. A common staple dish loved by many different cultures in Western/Sub-Saharan Africa. It is most commonly considered a Nigerian or Ghanaian recipe but is also common in Mali, Senegal, Gambia, Liberia, and many other countries in the region.

the children learnt that jollof rice needs steam and not liquid to cook perfectly, and that they would need to trap in as much heat as they possibly can in the pot to achieve perfect consistency. The rice tasted amazing.

HARVESTING OUR SCOTCH BONNETS AND BELL PEPPERS:

Our preschool children learnt how to Harvest the peppers they planted in June today. The children learnt that Peppers are both fruits and vegetables because they grow from from a flowering plant and contain seeds. However, they are primarily referred to as vegetables, because they are not as sweet as other fruits.
Most people think of them as vegetables. Red bell peppers are sweeter than green ones because bell peppers sweeten as they ripen. Red bell peppers have more than twice the vitamin C of a green pepper.
They also learnt that they are low in calories and are loaded with good nutrition, and all varieties are excellent sources of vitamins A and C, potassium, folic acid, and fiber. Plus, the spicy ones liven up bland food, making it more satisfying.

the children also had the opportunity to practice their Scissor cutting skills.
It was an enjoyable experience for them.
