Raw Material Music & Media Making a creative life a tangible reality.

Raw Material is a creative arts and music centre for young people and adults, working in both the local area in Lambeth, further afield across London, in other regions of the UK, and internationally. The extensive and widely inclusive programme maintains access for those with the greatest needs and our ethos places positive transformation at the forefront of creative pursuits. We believe that the arts and music, delivered in a socially and culturally relevant way, have the power to change and shape people’s lives. The knowledge, skills, and experience made possible by the performing and visual arts, music, film, and in creative experimentation, are essential to young people’s and adults’ development, including access to professional resources to create and celebrate the outcomes, in real-time and digitally. The cultural learning and practice we support take place in the community, in hospitals, in museums, with arts, voluntary and community organisations, schools and colleges, and informally in the wider world, creating opportunities for children, young people, and adults to express their ideas and form their values. Through cultural learning and experience, young people and members of the community are encouraged to explore and be inspired to contribute to the arts, music, and culture of the present – and the future.

Raw is Award-Winning! We are thrilled to announce that Raw's Capital project, led by our architects at Carver Haggard won a project award last night at the 2026 AJ Retrofit & Reuse Awards after being shortlisted earlier this summer.

The retrofit and extension of our beloved building has created more space, improved accessibility, and enhanced environmental performance, ensuring we continue to reach new audiences across South London and beyond. We're so proud of everything we've collectively achieved and are so grateful for this public recognition of so many people's hard work.

Our Young Producers music production course is back starting this week!

This hands-on program gives young people aged 11–16 the chance to work with professional music equipment, learn track-making secrets, and build creative confidence in a safe, supportive environment.

Cost: 100% FREE

Raw Material is seeking an enthusiastic, organised individual to join our team as an Operations Assistant and support the day-to-day running of our busy creative venue in Brixton! Working across all departments, this role balances front-of-house hospitality with practical administrative delivery—ensuring our building operations, event logistics, office systems, and community programs run smoothly, safely, and welcomingly.

Core Responsibilities:

🏢 Administration & Front of House: Act as the welcoming first point of contact, manage incoming inquiries, and support volunteer onboarding.

🛠️ Office & Building Operations: Oversee workspace organization, supply ordering, equipment maintenance, and facility setup.

🎟️ Events & Programme Support: Assist with event setups/pack-downs, room bookings, catering coordination, and marketing distribution.

Once again, our End of Term showcase was a roaring success. Time and time again, these events stand out as a highlight of the term—and the year—because they celebrate what's possible when people make the most of their innate creativity and talent.

While performance isn't the end goal for everyone, these showcases represent a community gradually built over 10 weeks. The gig is simply a moment where music brings us together to celebrate that connection.
