On Thursday we started the Eid celebration early so more children could take part.
One of our staff made traditional food for the children to try. For tea they had a chicken biryani with samosas. Then for pudding they tried Firnni.
On Friday the children made crowns to wear and coloured Eid celebration pictures. For snack they tasted Turkish delight and dates.
During Eid it’s traditional for children to receive and give gifts such as toys or sweets. So today all the children received a cracker filled with sweets.

The beginning of the week the babies have been doing some moon walking.
Decorating their own rocket using paint splatters. They had to use their fingers to move the paint around. This was good ideas for their sensory and fine motor skills. It also supported our children who don’t like touching paint.

On Monday the older children listened to a story about Ramadan. They learnt that this lasts approximately 30 days and during this time they must not eat from sun rise to sun set. They then celebrate and pray with their families. The children also enjoyed coloring some Ramadan pictures. Ramadan Mubarak to our families that do celebrate.
On Tuesday we began our Spring and Easter celebrations for the children who are not here over the easter holidays. They were giving sheep their wooly coats using cotton wool, talking about where sheep live, what a baby sheep is called and making sheep noises!
In our maths area the children were using tweezers to find and pick up small eggs and place in the bunny cups. The younger children were developing their pincer grip and hand muscles learning to use the tweezers and also practicing their counting and colour recognition. For the older children the activity was extended to matching numeral and quantity.
Today some of the children went on an egg hunt in the garden. When they had found their plastic egg, they received a small treat to take home!
Now it's Spring we have talked about more plants coming out so the children had the chance to create their own picture of some daffodils. Using the flowers that were on the table, the children were encouraged to draw or paint their own daffodils on paper.
For snack today we enjoyed tasting Hot Cross Buns.

The older children have been developing their counting and number recognition. The activity was then extended for the pre school children to adding and taking away while completing simple sums.
They had the option to use the hands, the number lines or the numicon to help them, as well as practicing writing their numbers when putting down the sum answers.
They have also enjoyed doing cosmic yoga - following instructions and moving their bodies in all different ways.

This week the babies have been exploring star sensory bags which contain plastic stars and different materials. Eg water, oil and salt. The babies enjoy feeling with their hands and squeezing the different bags.
The tuff tray the babies were using different size moons to make prints on their very own moon. This learning outcome was creating marks and making connection to the marks that they make and also looking at size context in big things and small things eg “big moon” “little star”
